For any Boston Sox Fan Freepers (and I know there are some)please pray for Matt Clement. If you are watching the game, he was just incredibly hit by a hit ball in the head on the mound. He lied on the mound for at least five minutes, motionless. The most shocking moment I have seen in sports. Please pray
that should read first place in the NL EAST.
Got the game on NECN.
This just from the Team:
"Never lost consciousness, CAT-scan negative, overnight at hospital as a precaution"
Keep up those good prayers folks.
Prayers up!
Thanks again commish. I am currently news deprived. Direct TV will not be installed until next week.
See #138 and #140 for an update.
"...Oh, I'm not Irish, but have been accused of having an Irish temper. Does that count? LOL!..."
I'd say it counts, and is damn near required!! hehe!
Yeah, I was going to use "ass" too, but I'd lurked for a couple of years off and on before signing up and didn't know if they'd let it fly, you know? I know we've chatted in the past, because I remember looking at your about page once before, can't remember the thread(s) though...
Anyway, how am I doing, Onyx?? : )
Great news for clement. Gonna have one hell of headache for a few days, and a damn good story for his grandkids.
GOOD! Thnak you!
Lacrosse balls are made from very dense rubber. They can cause a great deal more damage than a baseball - it's why all lax players wear helmets, as opposed to only the offense in Baseball.
Depends on what you're TRYING to accomplish!
VERY good news. Thanks, Semper.
Admin: Maybe we could add an update to the title.
Thanks, SP. I always learn something on FR. I take it you were hit by a lax ball or a rock?
"He had some numbness throughout the site where he got hit behind the right ear,"
Not sure of any docs on this thread, but I would assume that would be normal, right??
In game Update - Tampa Bay 8 Boston 6 Bottom 7TH.
See that a lot with blunt force traumas like that. Don't know the exact physiology of it, but it is like the pain receptors in the injured area shut down for a short while.
Update from the Red Sox organization: Matt Clement never lost conciousness, the results of his CAT scan were negative. He will remain overnight in the hospital (whatever hospital is closest to Tropicana Field - they didn't specify) for observation (my paraphrase).

Hey, I was just thinking we could maybe team up and go knock some heads in the Iraq/Afghan world, but then "rintense" is telling me how she "always liked my arse"... (ahem! coughing fit) I, I, I, mean my screen name... my screen name..... and well, you know???
Whew, either of you getting warm?? Damn, these Jersey nights, humidity just doesn't quit, I tell ya... : )
feeling normally come back to the person, or is it a type of injury that just really bangs up the nerves in the area?
