First vanity after more about 2 years.
One question:
When it comes to dealing with a very difficult civilization; in terms of the values we hold most dear as a civilization with a Judeo-Christian tradition. Should we not ask ourselves, when we feel mildly threatened - "What would God do?"

Nothing's blown up lately in Germany, has it?
( Ignoring some of the "fun" activities that used to happen before the Soviets fell....)

Those ladies were strong ladies...but they wore out quickly If they went that long without bathing, I bet they were very strong women indeed.

"What would God do?"Wrong question. The right question is, "What would God have us/me do?"

When you ask yourself "What would God do?" how do you know your answer is correct?

Flying airplanes into buildings and threatening to kill all Westerners is well beyond "mildly." Remember ... a long, long time ago... when if you harmed ONE American - you were toast!?
That was before Carter and the Iran Hostage Crisis. Reagan brought it back - but then BJ Clinton killed it again.

It's hard to answer exactly what God would do, because the context of every situation is different. There was constant blood-letting in the Old Testament, much of it on God's direct orders.
Then along comes Jesus and gives us the radical, crazy order to LOVE our ENEMIES...
But even Jesus went into the money changers at the temple and trashed the place like Elliot Ness at a speakeasy. And you need to only read Revelation to see what God and Son have planned for those who refuse them/him.
BOTTOM LINE: God wants us to be slow to anger, a lot slower than is in our nature to be. But he does NOT want us to be reflexive, unthinking pacifists. He does not want us to show off our clean hands while our neighbor's blood is shed...

Pretty much as he is doing, I reckon.

In spite of their strengths (r-r-r-r), they still were usually in perpetual states of pregnancy.
I guess their odoriferous state wasn't a good enough repellent.
