Trudeau is a pathetic, talentless ignoramus who can't even illustrate his own strip. That said, W's nickname for Rove IS "turd blossom."

'Doonesbury' is no longer a comic strip. It's become a platform for Trudeau's extreme leftist political views and animus towards President Bush. At least our paper puts it where it belongs, on the editorial page; I put it in the trash. It's the 21 century, but Garry's still doing the time warp circa 1971.
Old, bitter and lame--another aging hippie blinded by the light.

Anyone see this one from Sunday:

It easily could have been a propaganda piece delivered on videotape by a hooded Muslim in Pakistan.

Maybe there's some other reason for pulling the strip I'm not seeing. For example, the fact that it hasn't been funny since roughly 1979?

I prefer the term "it sucks!". I have no idea why Mr. Jane Pauley is still trying to do a cartoon strip, at least his wife had the sense to quit while "near" the top of her game.

(Maybe it's me, but I remember when comic strips were....FUNNY!)

It just doesn't get any lower than that in the humor chain.

Never hear of Ted Rall?

I have no problem with Doonesbury, although I haven't read it in more than 20 (25?) years now. However, having such crude language appear in the Comics section of the paper makes it another "Janet Jackson issue".

Do you want to explain to your 9-year-old,who is reading the comics on a Sunday morning, what a "Turd Blossom" is?

I don't, and I don't believe that I should have to.

If you want to put him on the editorial page with the other political cartoons, fine. My kids don't read the editorial page.

Trudeau is just another one of those "2005?, wow, that was good smoke" liberals left over from the 60's.

As I recall, he doesn't do his own drawing, either. Look at his early stuff and you'll see the surprising improvement of line.

This strip shouldn't be put on the comic page. Period.

The audience for Doonsebury is the newspaper editors. They get to foist humorless leftist tripe on their readers under the guise of comics. No one ever reads it. If they forgot to run it on any given day, no one would complain.

Seems to me Turdeau does this every so often, so as to gain the publicity he knows the MSM will provide him for being 'controversial'.

Hey, at least this time he provided us with a wonderful new way to spell his name!

Maybe it's time to issue a Fatwa against Trudeau.

I don't think that it's very funny either, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think your 9-year old hasn't heard the word "turd."

They don't even need pop culture for that one - get a couple 9-year olds together and the toilet humor will come all on its own. Kids love it.

Among all the possible objections to this strip, that seems a pretty slight one.

Doonesbury is for that crowd that finds humor in crude leftwing agitprop.

So that's Dingleberry?

If my paper pulled it, I wouldn't notice.

Hey Doonesberry? I have High Standards, so UP yours {standards that is or is it?}

According to Karl Rove, the President gave him that nickname because of the fact that cow manure is so highly nutritious for plants that wildflowers often bloom on the spot in the pasture shortly after the cow leaves some behind.

What's so difficult about explaining that?
