They died in service to their country, preparing young men for leadership; as sure as those who go on to serve in the U.S. military.

YAHOO: Five Boy Scout Leaders Die in Va. Accident
By MICHAEL FELBERBAUM, Associated Press Writer
BOWLING GREEN, Va. - Five Scout leaders were killed Monday afternoon in an electrical accident during the opening day of the Boy Scouts of America's annual Jamboree.
Jamboree spokesman Gregg Shields said the accident occurred between 4:30 and 5 p.m. in a campground. He did not have additional details about the deaths, including the victims' names.
One other leader and a contract worker were injured, he said. They were hospitalized in stable condition.
More than 40,000 Boy Scouts, leaders and volunteers from around the world are attending the 2005 National Scout Jamboree, being held the Army's Fort AP Hill.

Prayers for those who were injured, prayers to guide the souls of the departed. Ugh, this hits home. The National Jamboree I attended is full of rather fond memories.

BSA Jamboree website says about their web coverage....
We apologize. A power failure earlier today resulted in a production delay. Please check back soon.

Oh geeze, a coworker took a weeks vacation to help out at the Jamboree. I do hope he's ok.

The son of my dearest friend is attending the Jamboree this week. Thankfully he and his group are ok. Initial information is that while setting up a tent, a pole of some type hit a wire overhead causing this incident. Prayers for all those involved.

My son is there and I just called his cell. I talked to his adult leader and he is ok... HE also told me 4 scouts were electuted putting up a tent and ran into a pole. The fifth was an adult that had a heart attack.

So sad. I was privileged to attend the 1973 National Scout Jamboree in Moraine State Park in Pennsylvania. It is an experience that I will never forget. A Scout is reverent, and tragic accidents such as this call for reverence toward our merciful God. I feel for all Scouts and Scout leaders.
