World Net Daily ^ | July 24, 2005 | Staff Writer

When the family of Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich gathered in Pittsburgh for the fallen Marine's funeral, they expected a large crowd – after all, they've lived in the area for generations and Joseph had been a police officer before becoming a leatherneck – but they didn't expect to see Pennsylvania's lieutenant governor show up, hand out her business card and tell them "our government" opposes the war...

Good Lord, this lt. governor is not only stupid, she no manners nor compassion. A real zero.

I could understand if she passed out business cards to promote Fast Eddie's "casinos for lower property taxes" program.

Truly disgusting.

I have really respected President Bush's decision not to crash servicemen's funerals, which would turn them into political theater, but to extend his condolences in private.

Rendell's "apology" was rather tepid. I hope the PA GOP keeps the two of them "joined at the hip" in the upcoming election cycle.

Do they take away your sense of decency and tact when you join the Democratic Party?

At least show some respect for the grieving family.

This woman is embarassing...there is a time and a place for everything. Regardless of political views or anything like that, she is out of line to bring something up like this at a funeral. There is a place for dissent if you do not agree with the government, and this was not that time.
Let's add insult to an already painful topic by saying her son died for no reason, since the government does not support him...

What a role model she is for young women planning to get into politics. A real class act (not!)

Pennsylvania can be proud to have at least one unindicted public servant who opposes Bush's counterproductive war in Iraq rather than supporting it. Of course, Lt. Gov. Knoll supports grunts in the military which is why she attended the funeral in Indiana County.

OTOH Bush doesn't attend many of these affairs and he promotes an unnecessary war that has destroyed the lives of over 1730 US men and women, not to mention the uncounted tens of thousands of Iraqi noncombatants.

Let's honor those dead by seeking a prompt end to Bush's ungodly Iraq war!

MurryMom--so, you're back. And to what do we owe this pretentious visit?

Did you get fired from Moveon.org?

They're not "affairs", they're FUNERALS.
Funerals are for the families, not for self-serving politicians. No president since Eisenhower has attended the funerals of fallen soldiers.

We can assume by your comments that you also condemned FDR's unnecessary war with Germany and the hundreds of thousands of American males that died because of "Roosevelt's war"?

Troll alert!

FYI: http://www.irishpennants.com/archives/2005/07/pennsylvania_go.php

A quote from the article: "Catherine Baker Knoll, who lives in nearby McKees Rocks, crashed the funeral, plopping herself down in the pew next to Linda Kubiak, Goodrich’s aunt. During the communion service, Knoll told Kubiak she attends 90 percent of these 'functions' across the state."

She is has the manners of an ordinary garden slug's slime trail...

Any person who would use their authority in such an abusive manner does not have the common sense , morals, decency, or character necessary to be an assistant turd sorter at the local sewage plant let alone a LT Gov.

She has no heart or compassion for the people she is suppose to protect...

imo
