Written apologies will be sent to a fallen Marine's relatives angered by Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll's uninvited appearance at the soldier's funeral and her criticism of the war in Iraq, Gov. Ed Rendell said Sunday. Rendell said he will send a personal letter to the family of the late Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich, of Westwood, and will ask Knoll to do the same. Goodrich, 32, a police officer and infantry unit leader, died July 10 in a mortar attack in Hit, Iraq.
Rendell said he hadn't spoken with Knoll about the incident, but was disturbed by the family's charge that she made a political statement against the war.
"It's not the business of state government to support the war, but our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war," Rendell said during an appearance in Mt. Washington.

Rendell said he thinks Knoll, 74, of McKees Rocks, meant no harm by attending the memorial service last Tuesday.
Oblivious!
I think Dick Durbin has used this line too, "I support our troops but not the war." I guess we have at least two idiots.
Agreed - it's almost right. He should visit them personally.

What is it that they always have to say "but....." can they never, ever apologize and admit they were WRONG!
FEH. Broadband fart.
i liked the line about her going to so many funerals.. makes it sounds like she doesn't have a life, and runs around from funeral to funersl because that's the only places she can go.
now if she could only shut up.
He fooled enough sheeple.
It is highly doubtful that all state government employees and civilaians of Pennsylvania are against the war. So I don't know how a Governor can say that the State is against the war.
has anybody ever seen her and helen thomas in the same place at the same time?
Why the discrimination for the other 10%?
Apparently PA has its own foreign policy....
Wadda maroon.
the man who threw snowballs at santa claus when DA is lower than a snake!he's a worm.
Channel surfing Sunday and happened on Discovery Channel. They were doing a dog show segment and the terriers were the featured breed while I watched. Are you ready ... the Wheaten terrier that appeared in terrier group is owned by Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker-Knoll of Pennsylvania ... they did a intro showing the dog going to work at the state house in Harrisburg and lying under the Lt. Governor's desk. Good thing this was pre taped ... the Lt. Gov and her dog may not be long for the PA state house.
This *person* makes me want to HURL.
Knoll must be a busy woman indeed if she attends 90% of the funerals in Pa.
Gov. Rendell, trying to smooth things over, said this bizarre remark:
"Let me make this clear, it's not the business of state government to support the war, but our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war."
By the way, in the video clip of the offensive Lt. Gov., she looked like an unwell woman, a lot of stress or early stages of dementia, something like that.
