Even if the idea has been around a while, it sure makes a whole lot of sense to me to pass it along again.
My husband's ID on my cell phone is now ICE! I agree it's a great idea and I hope it catches on.
Got it in the cell phone under 'in case of emergency' - not sure how long until ICE comes to California, so I figured that was the easiest to ensure that folks understand it.
Great idea.
And here I thought you meant Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
You're kidding, right? Since you have only been a member here for 14 days, I have to assume you were trying to be funny.
I would think most people would like to have their loved ones notified in case of emergency. But for you, we'll just call the morgue and be done with it.
Add me to who cares.
BTW, i've been here 7 years.
The ICE number WOULD be someone in your immediate family, or whoever you wanted to designate it for. Read the announcement again. For example, if you would want your wife contacted (remember whoever looks at your phone list does not know the people listed there and how they are related) you put the word ICE AND HER PHONE NUMBER with it. You would not take out the listing you already have. Just add a new one under the word ICE.
The emergency staff would know to call that number and know they have reached the person that you designated the one to be contacted - In case of Emergency.
After emergencies the hospital staffers often have a real hard time figuring out who to call on behalf of the injured. This would be a big help to them. Ask someone who works in an ER. I don't see how you couldn't figure that out. But then, again, you thought I was only here 14 days. I offered this as a helpful suggestion. I was not twisting anyone's arm. It was just what I thought would be helpful. If you weren't helped, or didn't care, why bother to post just to be critical???? Grrrr.
I believe Semper was replying to Shawndell Green's comment, not yours.
Oh, and this sounds like a good idea. Scratch that, it IS.
I dialed ICE and Robert Van Winkle answered.
It's a good idea but ICE on my cell will be easy to find, it's listed under "mom".
Thanks to the other poster I saw I was mistaken. Truthfully I wondered why a Marine would say such a thing. My husband was a Marine for 10 years and then retired from the USCG. So, please accept a big MEA CULPA from me. I am soooo very sorry. CitM
I believe in making the job of emergency personnel easier if I can. I have always carried emergency info on me and in my car for that reason.
BTW, I'm not a Marine. I was in the US Coast Guard. You know, Semper Paratus.
ICE
Great idea. Thanks for posting. :o)
I have my wife listed as:
space, then WIFE
The space puts her alphabetically first, and puts her on top of the list when you open the phone book. I am sure anyone would figure out that she is the one to call... now ICE, I have my doubts.
Yep...that's a good idea too. Glad you are thinking. So many people don't even have their spouse's numbers on their cell. They program in the number under a number "1" or something. Or maybe just a first name is used. For kids a number under "mom/dad" would also be good. Anything we can do to make finding/identifying the right person is a big help to ER/First Responders. Thanks for your idea.
LOL!!!!!!!! Ice Ice Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!
We must be sisters.
Ice? Yeah, that is short for Ice-T.
