Even if the idea has been around a while, it sure makes a whole lot of sense to me to pass it along again.
My husband's ID on my cell phone is now ICE! I agree it's a great idea and I hope it catches on.
Got it in the cell phone under 'in case of emergency' - not sure how long until ICE comes to California, so I figured that was the easiest to ensure that folks understand it.
Great idea.
And here I thought you meant Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
I dialed ICE and Robert Van Winkle answered.
It's a good idea but ICE on my cell will be easy to find, it's listed under "mom".
ICE
Great idea. Thanks for posting. :o)
I have my wife listed as:
space, then WIFE
The space puts her alphabetically first, and puts her on top of the list when you open the phone book. I am sure anyone would figure out that she is the one to call... now ICE, I have my doubts.
So whats this "cell phone" thing everyone is raving about?
I JUST GOT THIS FORWARDED FROM MY corporate VP AND DIRECTOR.
They think it is a good Idea too!
I believe you are cutting edge and this idea will catch on.
EMT or Police personnel would only have to look for one
word for quick action rather than looking for something
that may seem intuitive to one individual but isn't to another.
Imagine Triage on a football field, this could save lives!
ICE (In Case of Emergency) is an appeal to encourage mobile phone users to enter an emergency contact number (e.g. relative or next-of-kin) in their phone address book under the heading 'ICE'. This will then allow police and paramedics to quickly retrieve an emergency contact number in the case of accident or injury. It really could help save lives. The campaign was started in May by a UK ambulance driver, and following the attacks in London last week, the idea has rapidly swept across the world, in particular America, Australia and Europe.
ICE - In Case of Emergency
A campaign encouraging people to enter an emergency contact number in their mobile phone's memory under the heading ICE (In Case of Emergency), has rapidly spread throughout the world as a particular consequence of last week's terrorist attacks in London. Originally established as a nation-wide campaign in the UK, ICE allows paramedics or police to be able to contact a designated relative / next-of-kin in an emergency situation.
The idea is the brainchild of East Anglian Ambulance Service paramedic Bob Brotchie and was launched in May this year. Bob, 41, who has been a paramedic for 13 years, said: "I was reflecting on some of the calls I've attended at the roadside where I had to look through the mobile phone contacts struggling for information on a shocked or injured person. Almost everyone carries a mobile phone now, and with ICE we'd know immediately who to contact and what number to ring. The person may even know of their medical history. "By adopting the ICE advice, your mobile will help the rescue services quickly contact a friend or relative; which could be vital in a life or death situation. It only takes a few seconds to do, and it could easily help save your life. Why not put ICE in your phone now? Simply select a new contact in your phone book, enter the word "ICE"; and the number of the person you wish to be contacted.
Does anyone else think this is a good idea that needs spreading around?
