An incredible number of attacks by Islamic jihadists have been planned over the last 35 years. Although many have been averted, far too many plots have succeeded:
Since 1970, jihadists carried out attacks in over 60 cities, in at least 41 countries, on five continents and Pacific islands. Jihadists have assassinated heads of state, ambassadors and military personnel, and killed thousands of men, women, and children of many ages, ethnicities and religions (including Muslims). They have sometimes deliberately targeted children and babies. The 78 incidents listed below should not be taken as a complete list, merely a representative one. The listed attacks resulted in at least 7478 deaths (rate of over two attacks/death toll over 210 annually). They began 33 years before our invasion of Iraq. |
Had just one of the biggest known aborted attacks been successful (e.g., Operation Bojinka), the death toll would have been in the tens of thousands, resulting in an annual rate of many hundreds killed. Luck, as much as intelligence and investigative skill, has prevented some massive attacks. Operation Bojinka was only discovered due to an apartment fire. However, the frequency and complexity of such attacks have continued to escalate since the 1970's.
We easily could have lost well over 10,000 on 9/11/01. Yet that was not the biggest known planned attack on New York City. The same cell which carried out the 1993 WTC attack intended to bomb the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, the UN building, and other NYC landmarks on one day. Had they succeeded, the death toll could have been beyond unthinkable. Similarly, had the plot to bomb Los Angeles International Airport succeeded during New Year's, 2000, the death toll could have been horrendous. Sooner or later, we may run out of luck.
We know the jihadists train and carry out small test runs for much larger planned attacks. Was the 2001 anthrax bioweapons attack such a test run? We may never know that is, we may never know until the day we're hit with a much larger bioweapons attack. We also know from captured terrorist documents, computers and equipment that the jihadist network wants to make or obtain chemical and nuclear weapons. They are already way too close to such weapons in Pakistan and Iran. Most importantly, we know they take a very long view of history. Their plots can and often do take years to execute.
If this list doesn't make clear that we are in a bona fide World War, what will? Yes, it's an unconventional war or, to use the current faddish term, an asymmetrical war. We are facing what amounts to a shadowy guerrilla army that operates worldwide, rather than massed armies openly fielded by nations. Nevertheless, for our own survival we need to come to grips with the fact that we are, indeed, in a World War such as has never been seen before. The enemy has been escalating the frequency and ferocity of his attacks over the past 35 years while we have been oblivious to the growing danger.

Bombs were to be planted on 11 U.S.-bound airliners that had stopovers all around East Asia and Southeast Asia. The aircraft would have blown up over the Pacific and South China Sea almost simultaneously. of course we are,and why are all the attacks against israel left out??/are they not western allies in this war against the Muslim??
Unfortunately this list ignores all the terrorist bombings, shootings and stabbings that have occurred in Israel.
The war on terror is global. But when I think world war, I thinking WWI and WWII. Countries fighting other countries. Millions killed with the possiblility that America or UK could have lost and been invaded by a military force of the NAZIs or Japanese empire. I dont see the war on terror that way.
Our military will prevail, an all volunteer force, we are not mobilizing the average citizen like in WWII. An average non-military family does not sacrifice anything at all like one did in WWII.
We are winning this war. The odds that the islamo facists will achieve what they want (islamic rule of earth)are zero. Yes it is very serious why we fight, and I do not attempt to diminish at all what is at stake. I know very well in this nuclear age, but we have engaged the enemy, that was half the battle in my opinion. Its a war of will and resolve I think too. Will and resolve here at home to fight this war. And we are winning that as well, the re-election of major coalition war leaders is the proof.
I just cant compare these islamo facists zealots on teh same level as NAZI Germany or the Japanese empire. Yeah the effed up zealots are just as bad as they were. But they are not countries with fleets of ships, armys with tanks. I wont give these jokers that much power by viewing them that way. They are brainwashed cowards.
Bttt
It is common knowledge that the muslims kill Jews. In their mind there is no Jewish state. It is forbidden under Islam.
To hear the left spin in, the Jews in Israel get what they deserve because they sit on arab land and the West gets what it deserves for intervening in Irsael and the Middle East.
They claim that we fight wars against Iraq for oil yet Saddam still feels justified in invading Kuwait. To hear the left describe it, America is wrong for deposing Saddam because we invaded a soverign nation.
If we provide aid through the CIA to help support movements to overthrow governments we don't like we are wrong and the CIA is evil. If the White House is accused of leaking details about the CIA then suddenly they are a respectible government institution.
If other governments fund agitators and terrorists in Iraq and Berkely (whether it is 1969 or 2005) we should not look at the governments that are behind the "insurgency".
The left is screwed because you cannot listen to their arguments. They are entirely dishonest. YES we are in a world war. They don't want to fight (protected self-interest) and in the end, they need global chaos on their side so that they can toss out our Constitutional democracy for the anarchist-socialist utopian dream that feeds their own violent protest.
Yeah yeah yeah.
That's all very interesting and all. But will someone please tell me what happened last week on American Idol and Desperate Housewives. I missed them and I NEED to know or else I will be lost.
1. The purpose of this list is to dramatically show the worldwide scope of the Islamofreaks' terror war.
2. It is impossible to list every Islamofreak terrorist attack that's ever occurred. The list would be extremely lengthy.
3. The above list should be taken as REPRESENTATIVE, not as complete.
4. These are major attacks (in one case, a planned attack that was averted) only.
5. There are a couple of key attacks that took place in Israel or, against Israelis.
6. We need to stop thinking of this war as one that's only against Israel. That's a huge mistake the west has been making for over 35 years. Israel must never again stand alone against these killers. We are all in it together.
Please see my post #9.
YES!
The islamoscum started this and WE WILL FINISH IT!!!
A speedy death to the "ROP" and the sooner the better...
Well, THIS will never make the MSM. Send it to O'reily.
Well done.
And that is a serious mistake. War is war, whether it is fought by massed armies fielded by nations, or by guerrillas hiding in the shadows.
If you missed "American Idol" and "Desperate Housewives" then I'm sure it's somehow Bush's fault.
See my Post #9.
Nope, they want us thinking in fragmented ways. They don't want us to see the big picture.
And thanks. :-)
Some one needs to send this out to the major ping lists. It deserves to be part of the readilly available FR archives.
Pinging a few cyber friends to critical info.
Bump, so that others may see..........and hopefully, understand what we are up against.
The Cold War was a world war. It lasted for decades and millions were killed (when communists stifled dissidents, alone).
Phsyical battles were fought (in Korea, Vietnam, and elsewhere) and near nuclear exchanges occurred several times (NOT because of Reagan, and some that we are only now learning about, the Cuban Missile Crisis was not the only near flashpoint).
There were those on the left who said that we needed to learn to co-exist with the Soviet Union, and there were some (like Jane Fonda) who preached to us that we should all learn to enjoy communism. The multiculturalists are dead set against the Western World as it stood. The left embraces horrible ideas at their own peril.
I would not look to Europe for the answer. Only a few nations got it right in WWII and the whole world almost suffered then too.
This is another Crusades. Does not meant that it needs to be fought as long but Islamofascism has no part in the modern world anymore than the political/genetic philosophy of Nazism.
Islam itself can only be permitted to exist in this world if its followers can be made to accept the FACT that all people are permitted to live in this world, that we are ALL equal (not 3 classes of people under LAW, muslims, Christians/Jew, and "everybody else"). Muslims claim that the Islamofascists are "not real muslims". Fine, then stand resolutely with us in RIDDING THE WORLD of such murderous scum. If muslims are remaining quiet against such outlaw mosques and clerics out of fear, then they have already surrendered to the Islamofascists and in my mind that makes it legitimate to throw out the baby with the bath water. What if the "baby" is a crocodile? You want that chewing your hand off?
