Vandals are compounding the grief of a Tri-state soldier's family.
Not even 24-hours after Private First Class Tim Hines's wife and family said goodbye at his funeral, American flags that had adorned their Fairfield yard were piled beneath a car and burned....

***Disgusting beyond words. A local car dealership should give the family a new car asap, plus pay any taxes.***
I agree with they should be given a new car, but.......
When they catch the perps, they should be forced to pay for the car by selling enough of what they now own to make up the payments. If they are minors, their parents should be forced to pay beyond what the teeners can get for selling their cell phones, iPods, etc. Then the perps and their parents (IF they are minors) should be put to work in every possible free minute cleaning cemetaries of our fallen heros.
And, by the way, who SAID that they are teenagers? We have crazy adults out there protesting the war against terrorism.
Never thought of it that way Mike.
Okay, I guess it's rehab and community service.
Interesting thought: there IS a mosque about 5 miles from there, though I understand it serves Muslims within about a 30-35 mile radius.
I hold the Democratic Party directly responsible. I cannot express the rage I am feeling at this moment.
Oh, okay then, I guess that makes it all right......silly me!
For what reason is the American Legion, of which I am a member (as well as the VFW), "going after" the ACLU? That sounds nonsensical.
nahhh.....not this time....
Federal Pound me in the @$$ prison for these guys :)
I heard this on the local news last night and that was exactly what I said. I think my husband was kind of surprised to hear those words come out of my mouth but the fact that anyone would do something like that is shocking.
I don't care if they were drunk, stoned and high.
They still should face the maximum penalty possible and in addition they should have replace out of their funds the flags and be forced to do cemetary groundskeeping for every weekend out of this school year.
If they miss activities or are athletes, tough toenails.
I'm curious why the authorities wouldn't consider charges of terrorism, thus making it *literally* a Federal crime. They certainly would have more resources at thier disposal to apprehend the perpetrator(s).
Is this not a politically motivated violent act intended to coerce individuals or the public into a certain point of view? It has all the hallmarks of one.
I amend my comment to: 'There is no way that, drunk or sober, young or old, burning American Flags is not making a political statement!
Just in case anyone thinks my comment about holding the Democrats directly responsible is over the top see this

Deport them to Iraq, paint American flags on them, and make them walk ahead of our troops along roads where roadside bombs might be planted.
And, oh, let them chant: "let there be peace on earth", while they are walking along the road. Just keep Iraqi children away from them (no collateral damage).
AMEN & BTTT!!!!!!!
AMEN & BTTT!!!!!!
Do you have any evidence for that rant?
The neighbors in this article seem to think differently than you.
Actually, I'd say 5 am is when I got in the MOST trouble when I was a tennager... :)
