Thank You Notes and Cards for our Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for 9/11
self ^ | 7-23-05 | patriciaruth

Posted on 07/23/2005 3:42:34 PM PDT by patriciaruth

Anyone willing write a thank you note or buy a card (up to 6 per person) to send to any or all of the 6 units of troops in Mosul, Kirkuk, and Baghdad in Iraq and in Bagram, Afghanistan, that we have adopted, please contact me for information.

We are in process of buying and sending movies commemorating 9/11 to send with the letters, notes and cards.

Please snail mail your notes and cards to me no later than August 2 or FReepmail me your note, which I’ll print out and put in the boxes. Please put your town and State at the bottom of you note or card. FReepmail me for more particulars.

THANK YOU!

For more information on what our group has been doing lately, link to our latest thread:

Care Packages for our Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, 2005

Movies going include
1. 9/11 - The Filmmakers' Commemorative Edition
Real footage from 9/11 of NYFD firemen in the WTC before its collapse and combing the Pile afterward. Shot by a French filmmaker Gédéon Naudet, who had been making a documentary about the firemen when the attacks came.
2. D.C. 9/11: Time of Crisis (Showtime movie with Timothy Bottoms as President Bush) about the first 10 days from the viewpoint of the White House. Actors are mostly caricatures of the real figures, but the facts and time line are pretty accurate. Real footage is interspersed.

Patriciaruth, this is awesome, I would like very much to help. Please let me know where to send them.

My son will be headed that way soon. I sure hope I can find a way to do something like this for his unit as well.

You have FReepmail.

We will be happy to send items to your son's unit for the whole unit when he reaches the war zone and has an APO there. Keep in touch.

I'll put you on our ping list.

Patty is awesome! And God bless your son! You and he might appreciate this site - www.heroesandtraitors.org. There are a few "support the troops" suggestions and links there.

I'd like the info also. When you say 6 per person, does that mean 6 from me and 6 from each of my boys and hubby? That's only 30, lol.

I'm going to post a thread with pics tomorrow from a Marine event I went to Monday. Can I ping you?

Patricia

Thanks for adding me to the list. I will get the cards tomorrow and get them out by Monday.

We are still not sure where he is going. He first thought Afghanistan, but he mentioned the other day it would be there, Iraq or Korea.</p>

Yes, 6 per person, which could be 30 from a family in your case! Lucky girl!

Would you like to be on the ping list for the Care Packages so you can follow what we send and the replies we get from the soldiers?

Today we mailed a couple of cards, with art from an adorable 4-year old girl, to two soldiers supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. We'll follow them up shortly with some care packages. But I'll do my best to get some cards and more coveted artwork down to you. You're the best!

Yes, I think I would, thanks!

It would be fun, and maybe, when I get some colored ink in my printer, I can print out some of the photos to go with my Yellow Ribbons!
