PADUCAH, Ky. -- The youngest Kentucky child to be charged with murder in decades likely will receive counseling and therapy in a setting away from a state juvenile jail, experts say. The 7-year-old boy is charged with killing his mother's boyfriend on June 27.
Under state law, he is too young to be tried as an adult or sentenced to a juvenile facility, but could be placed in specialized foster care or a private psychiatric hospital.
The boy's case will hinge on whether he had the mental capacity to know the difference between right and wrong and whether he is competent to make decisions about his case, experts say.

Good Lord!
I wonder why he did it?
It's hard for me to see a 7-year-old having the knowledge or the strength to kill an adult male with a knife. There has to be more behind the story. Or is this just a lucky hit on the jugular?
Police declined to release a motive for the fatal stabbing of Robert E. Sanders, who had been living with the boy's mother, Teresa Sanders, in Hickman in far western Kentucky. Police allege that the boy stabbed the man while he slept and that the boy's 4-year-old brother was watching.
Killed by a seven-year-old? What a winner!
Possible child abuse? Still, pretty rare. wonder about the mother and the circumstances with this live-in boyfiend.
Maybe mom killed him and figured the kid wouldn't get a murder rap? Very strange indeed.
The end of the article says that the county dropped complicity to murder charges against the mother, but she's charged with felony criminal abuse of her other son (a 4-yr old) and endangering the welfare of both kids. Something bad was happening to these kids. No details, though.
THat's what I was wondering. Is this a crazy kid that killed a good man or could he have been defending his little brother and himself the only way he could. Strange that they won't release details.
That's exactly what I was thinking, how could a 7 year old have the strength to do it, let alone to have the idea form in his mind.
I would guess it had something to do with his little brother.

my sympathy for women with children living with a man not the kids' dad is ZERO.
A real life Michael Myers?
Gitlfriends sleep more soundly than boyfriends.
A seven year old can't commit murder, they don't even understand the meaning of death at that age, they don't get that it's a permanent thing.
However, if it were the man's wife and the murder was committed in Massachusetts they'd just let the killer go. Eight such female murderers who killed their husbands as they slept were paroled by then Governor Weld in 1995. Of course, they are now hailed as "The Framingham Eight, Women Who Fought Back".
Well that's an obvious no.
Genius justice system at work... not.... a 7 year old is employed and not employer of violence.
I find it "funny" that this follows the abortion mantra, portraying kids as threats. When it is power hungry politicians, feminists and authorities who drive power struggle and employment of murder to effect change.
Nothing good will come out of these policies in this country.
