Former U.S. intelligence officers criticized President Bush on Friday for not disciplining Karl Rove in connection with the leak of the name of a CIA officer, saying Bush's lack of action has jeopardized national security.

I am really creeped out by your post, a) if it is true and the dems circulate their address ahead of its broadcast, b) that they would attack the admin by using Plame in this venue, or c) if someone at DU has the skill to write such a piece for fun.
I would love to send it on to a talk show host that I am listening to right now. Victoria Toensing was one of his guests this morning.
I just don't want to spread a 'spoof.' Do you think it is for real?
From post#40 (coup d'etat by the CIA?)
In addition, he pointed out that the CIA paid for Wilsons trip, didnt ask him to sign a confidentiality agreement, didnt object to his writing the op-ed article in the Times and allowed him to conduct TV interviews and to appear in a photo with his wife in Vanity Fair, he noted.

Another explanation was provided by a former senior C.I.A. officer. He had begun talking to me about the Niger papers in March, when I first wrote about the forgery, and said, Somebody deliberately let something false get in there. He became more forthcoming in subsequent months, eventually saying that a small group of disgruntled retired C.I.A. clandestine operators had banded together in the late summer of last year and drafted the fraudulent documents themselves.
This reads like an infomercial - "simulated interview" like those that sell vitamins or other products in the middle of the night.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear.

Thanks.
BTW, I just tried to listen to the President's weekly radio address - tried CSPAN 1 +2, NPR, and CSPAN radio.
I did not hear it anywhere. What is going on? Do they broadcast it before 10am? Are all my clocks wrong? I am getting seriously paranoid! LOL!
Here's his radio address:

Thanks, I went to the White House website.
I wonder if it is broadcast anywhere? I certainly could not find it in Baltimore.
"Shortly after the surprise Tenet-Pavitt resignations, current and former senior members of the U.S. intelligence community and the Justice Department told journalist Wayne Madsen, a former Naval intelligence officer, that they were directly connected to the criminal investigation of a 2003 White House leak that openly exposed Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA officer."
And are the Powell and Armitage resignations included in the criminal investigation?
It means that President Bush has already fired the people who leaked the information about Valerie Plame to Bob Novak, and fired the people who were responsible for those trying to undermine him on the issue of Iraq's nuclear ambitions. Why was there so little interest by the media in Tenet's surprise resignation?
"Shortly after the surprise Tenet-Pavitt resignations, current and former senior members of the U.S. intelligence community and the Justice Department told journalist Wayne Madsen, a former Naval intelligence officer"
Wayne Madsen is the jerkwad who didn't know Iraq was in a different time zone from the US, when Bush went there for Thanksgiving.
Some intelligence.
Yeah, but what "people's?"

We tend to forget that in all of our wars up to and including WWII, the kind of the things that the Democrats and the Democrat controlled media are doing were OUTLAWED. They would have shut down sites like Antiwar.com, Democracy Now! and probably censored half of the articles in the MSM (and 2/3rds of the NYT).
We stopped doing this after WWII, and have not won a major war since. I don't think it is a coincidence.
There have always been traitors like Larry Johnson and Ray McGovern and Joe Wilson. In the good old days they would have been thrown into jail.
It's a very daring experiment to allow such people to be at large in a time of war. Especially since so many of them are in the media, and are so hellbent on advancing their anti-American agendas.
Now if freepers are on their tail, I have to assume the FBI is, too.
I wonder what Fitzgerald has discovered.
Hey. I seem to remember something about Plame's NOC still being in effect even though she wasn't really covert. Someone also mentioned that their was something odd about the document. Do you suppose someone clandestinely re-instituted her NOC, without the knowledge of Tenet? If these people would forge papers about the Niger uranium, I would bet cash money that they would forge internal CIA documents.
I could be wrong .. but I think that is because we haven't had a "declaration of war" voted on in Congress since WWII
Again, I could be wrong, but I think the rules are different with regards to reporting
Oh, yum........wouldn't that be fun??
Oh and let me add .. that Congress right now with their hearings are trying to protect reporters even more about their leaks and reporting
In a time of war ... that is a VERY dangerous thing
"Again, I could be wrong, but I think the rules are different with regards to reporting"
I don't think a former declaration of war has any impact on reporting.
In any case, there was no declaration of war in the Civil War, for instance.
Lincoln would have hanged a number of these "reporters" and former "intelligence agents."
"I used to feel like the CIA was our security blanket.... They did not see the collapse of the Soviet Union coming - end of their credibility for me. Then the Clinton years probably distilled out most remaining agents who could not buy into the "diversity and sensitivity training" that took prominence in the agency. So we are left with a preponderance of partisans who value their leftist allegiance over their American allegiance."
Let's not forget that the Frank Church (and John Kerry) hearings set out to gut all of the US intel agencies, most especially the CIA.
And they succeeded beautifully. The agencies never have fully recovered.
