LONDON (Reuters) - Administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers said on Friday it had selected China's Nanjing Automobile to buy the assets of bankrupt carmaker MG Rover and its engine producer Powertrain."Nanjing has indicated its intention to relocate the engine plant and some of the car production plant to China, to retain some car production plant in the UK and to develop an R&D and technical facility here," PwC said in a statement.
Chinese rival Shanghai Automotive Corp. (SAIC) and a British consortium had also bid to buy MG Rover assets.

Look again, they've got quite a few modern machines, or did - the MGF, for example.
This is not Range Rover, correct? Range Rover is made by BMW?
It all makes perfek sense---China needs the engines to burn the fuel they'll get when they buy Unocal.
Land Rover was split off and is now owned by the Ford Motor Company.
That seems like a lot of money to get a few modern machines.
If you want to see a REALLY bad car, you should see the Chinese versions of the Yugo!
Rover is one of those English cars I wish we could buy in the US.
Roger that!

Why? the last Rovers here were poorly made Honda clones!
I've rented a Rover 75 a couple of times in the UK and for a car that costs the equlivant of about $15k US, it was a beaut to drive.

..and it continues without any concern..
PwC has been bleeding money ever since P.W. and C&L merged and the company is run by a band of idiots, so there isn't much to comment on.
Miss those Lucas electrial systems?
Play nice. There is something about the Brits and things British that transcends practicality. I had a chance to buy a few whitworth tools a while back for a very reasonable price ... I regret that I didn't ... but only for sentimental reasons since [thanks again Lord] I have not needed them to date. :
Have you seen the new one they're advertising on TV. Looks like a '70s era Jeep Wagoneer. (and no doubt without the horsepower) Only a yuppy poser would ever buy one of those things.
They're mostly buying the nameplates and the tech.
Well, if they need to know how to make a gearshift lever that will break off, they have the right bunch.
