The real question is who are the stupid morons who submitted the two different versions of the initiative? There's no excuse for incompetence. This was completely foreseeable and preventable.

Now we have to start again from scratch.

I don't know if there is enough time left to re-qualify the initiative for the November 8, 2005 Special Election.

This was the most important measure on the Special Election ballot.

You are right about the incompetence. Dang, a bad thought just occurred to me. What if opponents of an initiative purposely put out petition collectors with false versions. How would the signers know? I wonder if that is even a crime?

That assumes it wasn't intentional so as to derail the effort precisely this way
