How do prevent the stop-n-go jihad that is currently going on in London from happening here? Should we have an El Al if-you're-a-Muslim-you-don't-ride standard for our planes and trains?

At the very least will those traveling on subways in this country have to carry their things in mesh, see-through carry bags like they do in many public high schools-- in reaction to Columbine-- in this Country?

Clearly, their are many terror cells, native and foreign born , in this country. Monitoring mosques, forbidding muslims entry into certain engineering programs at our universities, massive deportations of problem muslims and ,gasp, a plan for internment should be prepared by a guy like John Pointdexter for implementaion if necessary.

Internment is an option and the POTUS should seal the borders stat.

Your joking right? Closing the borders isn't even an option with those in power now. Both sides have interests in letting the gates to nation remain wide open. Until we deal with that....we are vulnerable.

Actually, part of the deal for drafting immigrants from the Austro-Hungarian Empire (and their children/grandchildren) was to make sure that after WWI was over all the nationalities would get their own countries.

Else, Wilson would have not gotten all the troops he needed, and such places as Chicago, Cleveland and so forth, with industries vital to the war effort, might well have undertaken highly popular strikes against the government war effort.

I see a situation absolutely identical to that we now face in the Middle East. We are remaking the place, but to get the support of Middle Easterners who live here we have got to make sure there's something in it for them.

Now, regarding your second point ~ that the "immigrants who shared the aims of our foes" were some sort of issue ~ the fact is that native born Americans, many of whom were descendants of immigrants who first arrived in the early 1700s, were vigorously opposed to fighting a war on behalf of the Brits against the Germans.

This was particularly the case in such states as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and the Great Plains where German was still commonly used, and in Indiana where it was a LEGAL language in general use, particularly in industrial cities!

Wilson began neutralizing German-American opposition by rounding up German-American politicians and imprisoning them. Once he'd co-opted the Austro-Hungarian crowd, there wasn't much for the German-Americans to do but go along.

Please note, Wilson rounded up the politicians ~ not the people, as Roosevelt did later.

Wilson did a much more effective job and hurt fewer people.
