Not necessarily. As one freeper pointed out earlier--if one thing was wrong with a batch of explosives made at the same time then they would all be bad. The eyewitness said the man wearing the backpack looked real distraught(no virgins appearing). I think it was extremely fortunate for the Brits that the explosive might have been defective--but of course we are all guessing at this point...

It's particularly interesting to see that each attack since 9/11 has claimed fewer casualties and less infrastructure damage. If AQ wasn't on the run, I wonder if that would be the case.
You're thinking chemical. If biological, we wouldn't know until people started showing symptoms. But that's assuming the police wouldn't be testing for everything, which they probably will asap.
This is the type of thing I'm concerned about. An epidemic of pneumonic plague would send everyone into a panic and clog the health care system. It's contagious, and the symptoms are similar to inhalation anthrax. But it's treatable with antibiotics, so that's good.
Now smallpox is another thing entirely. But honestly, it's probably just amateurs, like someone else suggested.

This is extremely serious, in spite of the fact that the bombs didn't detonate. Even if it's just a copycat, it's extremely serious. Why? Because it means one of two things:
1) Terror cells have been activated, or
2) It's every radical Muslim for himself,

CNN: Witnesses smelled a sour smell associated with the incident at one of the locations. What would cause that smell?
