FreeRepublic – an online community

"I had not been all that politically active prior to President Clinton's election," Robinson recalls. "Yes, I complained about government and politics just like everyone else … but politics was not particularly high on my list of priorities – until Slick came along."

Robinson saw that the Clintons had brought a new and dangerous level of corruption to American politics. He could no longer remain aloof. "I knew that the newspapers and news media were lying and I knew that government had been encroaching on our individual rights and that our politicians were as corrupt as the day is long. I also knew that nothing would be done about it unless we the people somehow joined together to exercise our political free-speech rights."

For about an hour and a half, the Freepers drowned out every speaker who attempted to take the stage...law-abiding, middle-class folks standing up for their rights.

Sigh. Standing up for their right to shut other people up? Aren't we proud of ourselves.

If, during the founding of this country... Free Republic were there, who would they be compared to?

I tune in to Rush & Laura every day. I still come to FR reassure myself that other people think the same way I do. Jim R. is a Great American.

God Bless Jim and his family.

"They'll have to pry my keyboard from my cold dead fingers," Jim Robinson famously told Washington Weekly in April 1998. The battle lines were drawn.

I love it!
God bless Jim Robinson
God bless Free Republic

One of the most informative post I've read since being on FR. Thanks for the background history.

I had no idea of the Clintons utter thirst for power and corruption till I joined FR.

Hillary MUST be stopped from continuing her drive to steal this country back for her personal kingdom and play toy.

Rush may be show prep for the rest of the media, but we're show prep for Rush.

You may be right about that but I found FreeRepublic years ago because Rush told about it on his show.

If not for Rathergate, I would have never found FR.

FR has become an addiction for me now. It's the only place where I can find the truth about our politicians and the MSM, where their lies are dissected till the truth is laid out before us.

SFC MAC, Thank you so much for posting this excellent article. I was only aware of some of the information in it, and it has given me an even deeper appreciation for Jim and his family.

May God bless you,and yours, Jim. He has certainly blessed all of us, and this country because of you. Thank you for Free Republic, and for providing such a wonderful example that "you can't keep a good man (or woman) down".

Rush does mention FR every now and again, but you can tell he reads every day, just based on the goofy stories that come out. It's not so much in the big stories, but the little stories from out-of-the-way places that he mentions.

* * * This e-mail is making the rounds -- Subject: SUPPORT OUR TROOPS * * *

You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why:

Americans who support our troops are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are.

Many Americans, like yourself, would like to start a grassroots movement using the membership of the Special Operations Association, and Special Forces Associations, and all their friends, simply to recognize that Americans support our troops. We need to inform the local VFW's and American Legion, our local press, local TV, and continue carrying the message to the national levels as we start to get this going. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is -- starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday until this is over -- that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a university.

If every one of our memberships shares this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED -- and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red!

Let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

I sent this out to everyone on my email list; hopefully, you will too. Please forward this to everyone you know!!

Wear Red on Fridays!

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.
FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED! GOD BLESS AMERICA

They called Samuel Adams "the most dangerous man in Massachusetts" during Revolutionary times, and the British were terrified of the power of his words and ideas. I daresay that Jim Robinson is now "the most dangerous man in cyberspace" in these NEW pre-Revolutionary times.

History DOES have a way of repeating itself.

You just gotta love that. :)

God Bless You Jim!

You would have been happier if Jesse Jackazz had been successful in his race baiting that day? And would you have been even more delighted if Jesse's success had paved the way for Gore's attempted theft of Florida's electoral votes to succeed as well?

I suspect you would have been trying to save all that tea being dumped in the harbor in Boston on that day in 1773, and apologizing to the damn British as well.
