....Minutes after the nomination was announced, NARAL shot an e-mail to 30,000 "rapid responders" nationwide, exhorting them to bombard senators with phone calls and write letters to editors of their local newspapers. About 800,000 other supporters were set to receive a more general plea for action. NARAL banner ads began appearing last night on a variety of Internet sites pushing the group's message about abortion rights.
At People for the American Way, staff worked late into the evening drafting e-mails telling nearly 800,000 members and activists to call senators in battleground states. Kristin Bateman, who heads the "war room," was putting together call lists and writing scripts for volunteers to follow when contacting fellow activists this morning. It was shaping up to be a late night.
"I have to get ready for morning," she said.
Early indications are that the nomination battle will be a boon for media companies. Already, the conservative Progress for America has pledged to spend $18 million pushing the president's nominee. Ads introducing Roberts to the nation are expected to air in critical markets in coming days. A representative for the group did not return calls yesterday.
Rushton, who was busy yesterday afternoon working the phones and conducting interviews, said conservative groups will target Democratic senators in states that voted Republican in the last election in hopes of pressuring them to back away from partisan attacks.
"We have the distinct advantage of having the White House on our side as well as a Senate majority," he said. "I think we will be tough and vigilant about responding."

***....He and his wife, Jane Sullivan Roberts, have two adopted children, Jack and Josie. He has been a federal appellate judge in the District of Columbia Circuit since 2003..... For top court, Bush picks conservative - "Harvard-educated white man"
US President George W. Bush (C) announces Federal appeals court judge John G. Roberts Jr. (L) as his first Supreme Court nominee during a prime-time speech at the White House in Washington, as Roberts' wife Jane (2nd R), duaghter Josephine (R) and son John look on. Bush nominated the conservative Roberts to the US Supreme Court, a move that may shape battles on controversial issues like abortion for decades. Roberts, 50, has been a judge in the federal court of appeals in Washington since 2003 and is considered a conservative Republican.(AFP/Jim Watson)
NARAL= National A@@ Rangers And Liberals
NARAL - Pro-Choice America The battle for the Supreme Court has begun. Help save the Supreme Court from President Bush. Tell your senators to oppose anti-choice John Roberts.
The still don't seem to realize that America voted and they lost. The people are tired of their shizzle; they've had their chance to prove that their way is better - and they (and every other country that tried it) have failed.
The Rats remind me alot of adolescents: The adults are in charge, and the kids just can't stand the injustice of it all.
What a waste of money. What about the poor starving children?????
You don't wanna know what their plan is for poor starving children!
Judge Roberts?
DUmmyville Banter of the Day:
"(Roberts) Pro- Corporate Stance more Frightening than Anti Roe one IMHO"
"Gosh, you must never have feared an unwanted pregnancy!"
What about them? All liberal groups care about is their own power, and in the case of liberal politicians, getting elected/reelected.
The "poor starving children", and "the homeless", etc. etc. ad nauseam are merely emotion-based ploys to institute their socialist agenda of massive wealth redistribution.
The dims couldn't really care less about those poor starving children; after all, if NARAL had it's way, they'd all be aborted.
It is for this reason, and if for no other, we really need strict constructionists on the USSC. Stopping this downward slide into socialism is far and away the most important issue. We can worry about abortion, as abhorrent as it is, later.
More DUmmyville banter:
"Looks like a wild-eyed child molester to me"
"He looks like a creep LOL..."
"There is no way in hell Dems should confirm this joke. They should not"
"All white guys look alike." "Damn - I never noticed, but you're right"
"What a waste of money. What about the poor starving children?????"
One day some Democrat is going to wake up, buy a clue and realize that all the money they donate to the DNC really goes into the hands of leftist lawyers.
The DNC and these leftist activist groups are nothing more than a giant business for a few attorneys that couldn't make it in the real world. They produce nothing and they give nothing back to society.
On their site:
"... Check out our Supreme Court Action Kit".
Good lord.
My point exactly!!!!!!
"I have to get ready for morning,"
think she's got that wrong .... PAW has to get ready for mourning ... Robers will be confirmed and sitting on the SCOTUS bench come the first Monday in October.
We had better put even more pressure on the RINOs. If we can keep McCain, Specter, Graham....in line, there won't be any problems.
I would like to think that the administration has already forged this support.
Two well-behaved adopted children, I might add.
Soon we'll start hearing how Bush should have made a multi-cultural pick, not some blue eyed male, who has blond haired children.
Cool. I always wanted to look like Brad Pitt.
The problem is that the losers (the Dems) keep on demanding the capitulation of the winners (the GOP) and the media plays right along.
And since so many key GOP Senators top priority is to gain favor with the Media, they tend to go along with this line of thinking.
We have 55 Senators...in the real world, Dems and 5 GOP Senators can be completely ignored, their opinions without any validity, in regards to judicial appointments.
I'm sure NARAL had all the press releases and emails written prior to announcement -- they just simply dropped in the approrpriate name and hit "Send". It doesn't matter who the nominee would have been, they still would have sent the same exact thing, just with a different name attached to it.
