Maybe Atty General was a good place for an special almost-conservative who will,after all, not be ruling on law but enforcing it.

It's been better than an hour. Hope everything's all right.

I'm a bit late to the party (and no, pings wouldn't have helped), but it sure looks like this one came out of deep right field. Heard Chuck Grassley on ABC Radio on my way home, and he pointed out that Roberts went through committee with only 4 died-hards voting against him and the full Senate on a voice vote.

John G. Roberts is the man

And he is a man.
Thank God President Bush had the guts to appoint a man to do a man's job.
Now, if our Commander-in-Chief can only do the same with our armed forces.....

GREAT clarification of the "deal". I'm amazed so many still don't understand what happened there.

I've been shouting it since it happened, I even got on Rush and told him I disagreed with him. We still need to see it all play out to be sure, but so far it has worked just like I (and a number of other people such as yourself) thought. We won, and we acted like we lost, all because the libs saved face temporarily and we didn't get to gloat by passing the nuclear option the next day which we were all geared up for.

>> Still waiting for you to prove Judge Roberts is anything but a conservative.

The reason I asked for anyone to prove Roberts is conservative is because I have seen nothing to prove his judicial philosophy, one way or the other.

>> If you haven't got anything better than that boy, you might want to keep your mouth shut. You're beginning to sound like a drunken Teddy Kennedy tonight.

In other words, you cannot prove Roberts is conservative, can you, punk?

Going to be difficult to vote no on someone you recently voted overwhelming to approve.

The "conservative base" never took the time to listen respectfully to Graham.

Sorry.

You're wrong about him, and his intentions with "the deal".

He's on your side, but you sound more like a libertarian or a greenie or a Demodog than a conservative or Republican.

Your "clarification of the "deal" is all speculation. If you think the Dems won't try to obstruct again, you have not paid attention the last 5 years. That is all the Rats have done to this Pres. And for Graham and the rest of the RINO to even think of making a deal with them is unforgivable to real conservatives. Graham is no conservative.

Pres. Bush said he would nominate judges to uphold the Constitution

He did and I didn't doubt that he meant exactly that. Still, it is absolutely thrilling tonight to think back to how many times on the campaign trail he referred to the kinds of judges he would nominate and the roar of approval that always followed. It was exhilarating and now, with his biggest nomination to date, it's a promise well kept.

That is sooooo cool ... I'd love to watch a replay and see if a little smile or an extra twinkle was in GWB's eye at the time.

All we can do is pray...

1 Timothy 2

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Oh, I've been paying attention all right. I think they would certainly obstruct if they thought they could get away with it, but they don't have the votes. If they filibuster, the deal is off, and the nuclear option is invoked. The GOP senators involved have clarified this is what they agreed to. It allowed the moderate Dems to save face temporarily that is all.

The deal basically comes down to this: The dems retained the right to filibuster judicial nominees as long as they don't filibuster judicial nominees.
