My initial reaction: WHOO-HOO! I am absolutely delighted!

When all the names (Brown, Luttig, et al.) first were mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Roberts was my top choice. And from what I am hearing and seeing tonight, I am very pleased.

Thank you, President Bush! Now let's back this man and see him through.

If Mark Levin likes him, I like him.
Go, Roberts! Go, Dubya!! Woo HOOOO!
And Roberts is only 50.

Sounds Good... This is the only quote that really bothers me

"Roe v. Wade is the settled law of the land. ... There's nothing in my personal views that would prevent me from fully and faithfully applying that precedent."

John Roberts

I think this is a really good choice. Of course the radical, foaming at the mouth liberals will flip---good, let the fools go wild. I think he will be confirmed by a solid majority. I am very pleased with W's choice, good job!!!

Title of a thread over in the DUmpster:

"Fighting Roberts is futile. We need to keep pressure on Plamegate."

I still believe rehnquist will retire before the next term. I wouldn't be surprised if the White House got rehnquist to hold off...even mislead a little...until this first nominee is confirmed (or at least cleared for a floor vote).

So, the real question is what in the world will Bush do for his next SCOTUS pick? I personally hope he goes a bit more to the right rather than to the left toward Gonzales.

Then, again, we'll see what happens on this present pick first.

29. The problem is there isn't much of a party to leave anymore
If they don't stand for what I believe, are they Democrats or am I dogmatist? But those that say,"Oh get back to Rove" as if it's an either and fail to think that THIS GUY IS GONNA BE ON THE COURT FOR 30 years...I guess it's not that important.

Maybe it's a losing battle. I'm not even sure (oh yes I am Bush picked him) he's that bad. But if it's not worth the fucking fight what does it MEAN to be a Democrat?

What party?

Who got George Bush in the white house in the first fucking place?

OH YEAH. The supreme court.

I'm pissed because every goddamn nightmare is coming true. THIS IS why people always bitched that it matters that you vote. ALL Those elites who say it doesn't matter-can't be bothered to vote-Kerry is rich and skull and bones blah the fucking blah-congratulations-the supreme court is for life, whom to have to thank for that?

I am pissed at everyone. EVERYONE. Fight..the fucking country is dying..it's dying and fighting may be all I have to even feel human because these fucking monsters running the country don't want ME to fight."

From what I have seen of the guy, he looks like a solid pick.

Bear in mind the legal briefings you file do not necessarily represent your own personal views. Seems like a decent pick, but I'll wait until I see how he actually votes before I start singing praises.

Thanks. Sounds like a good pick. Heard this a.m. that NOW is planning a protest because they believe he's against abortions. Anything NOW is against I'm for.
