Certainly an improvement on O'Connor, who so often tried to split hairs and forge amorphous murky mushy compromises that failed to respect the clear terms of the Constitution and its Amendments, not to mention many statutes.....

I think Bush will nominate Janice Rogers Brown when Rehinquist retires. He probably feels she needs a little time on the DC Circuit before she can move up, even though she is more than qualified right now. Roberts was on the DC Circuit for close to 2 years before he was picked for SCOTUS. If Rehinquist retires between now and this time next year, JRB is moving up.

Hopefully he also picks Clarence Thomas for CJ at the same time.

Thanks. Sounds like a good pick. Heard this a.m. that NOW is planning a protest because they believe he's against abortions. Anything NOW is against I'm for.

WTF are you talking about? I have been here over 7 years with over 30,000 posts. What did I supposively say? You are the tool. Show me the post you seem so offended by. You are coming across as a total a$$.

You know it kind of irks me when someone makes an obnoxious comment and doesn't even have a clue what they are talking about. Look at all most posts, it is impossible for me to 'revise' history, its all there. Tell me what you think you are talking about. Show me or shut up.

Freedrudge:

I was only replying to someone concerned with the next pick. I'm hoping for JRBrown. She's excellent and a perfect doomsday candidate for the libs to go crazy over.

I read recently that David Souter had spent the same amount of time on the Appellate Court.

Yeah actually I wouldn't mind Scalia or Thomas for the Chief Justice Position...

BS. First I am not a nice guy,

You are right, I stand corrected. As for your assertion that MS was out of line in its business practices, well, that is a personal observation without any supporting evidence. You may well be right, but in Mr. Borks case we are talking about the law, not business practices, and it has yet to be proved that MS broke the law. They play hardball business but that is not against the law, yeah?

"I've changed my mind on gun control. I was wrong.......
we need a well-armed left. It is clear that without the right to keep an bear arms, including assault weapons, liberals would not be safe. The Republicans have made it clear that they don't think we are Americans. They have made it clear that they believe they are automatically entitled to win elections, even when they loose.

We need to protect ourselves. GOP radicals, like Tim McVeigh and Eric Rudolph, can find liberals by simply buying a voter registrations list. See who is listed as a Democrat. The only thing stopping these violent people is the fear that we have weapons to protect ourselves with. Because McVeigh and Rudolph are COWARDS. They like to kill others, but they don't want to be caught and go to jail or get killed in the crossfire. The cowards won't come after us if they believe we can protect ourselves and they might get hurt.

I'm sorry for how this sounds, but it is clear to me that the Republicans have walked away from democracy and have no regard for the lives of their fellow Americans. "

THIS IS TOO FUNNY....A DEM ACTUALLY TRYING TO TELL HIS FELLOW DEMS TO ARM THEMSELVES CAUSE THEY THINK THEY COULD BEAT US IN A FIREFIGHT....ARE THEY KIDDING THEMSELVES....JUST A HINT...WE'VE BEEN ARMING OURSELVES FOR A LITTLE WHILE NOW.....LOL

"So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice."

it has yet to be proved that MS broke the law

Uh that is not exactly true. In US v Microsoft they were found guilty of violations of the Sherman Anti-trust act. http://www.dcd.uscourts.gov/ms-findings2.pdf

for instance para 412 states "Most harmful of all is the message that Microsoft’s actions have conveyed to every enterprise with the potential to innovate in the computer industry. Through its conduct toward Netscape, IBM, Compaq, Intel, and others, Microsoft has demonstrated that it will use its prodigious market power and immense profits to harm any firm that insists on pursuing initiatives that could intensify competition against one of Microsoft’s core products. Microsoft’s past success in hurting suchcompanies and stifling innovation deters investment in technologies and businesses that exhibit the potential to threaten Microsoft. The ultimate result is that some innovations that would truly benefit consumers never occur for the sole reason that they do not coincide with Microsoft’s self-interest."

Yeah it's against the law, they were forced to divest, and the judgment was upheld on appeal.

I bow to the proof which backs up your assertion.
