President Bush has chosen federal appeals court judge John G. Roberts Jr. as his nominee to the Supreme Court, a senior administration official says...
I pray that you're right. It'll be nice to have a conservative court in case the Dems get back into power.
One can only hope.....no more commies on the SCOTUS!
Ever now and then I have to pull out my Smokey and the Bandit. I am like Roberts already and Bush has not even made it official.
poor guy will need to be up all night, cataloguing that group! LOL!
Well he'll be the below the fold maybe.
Every poll I've seen so far that wasn't blantetly left wing had the majority wanting Bush to choose a conservative.
Personally, I think the homosexual agenda pi$$ed off a lot of voters, and they aren't worried about abortions becoming extinct, either. Who would want one anyway other than the lower level democrat base?
The DUmmies are calling him a "crazed fundie freak". I like him already.
Are you always so far off target?
I was with Bush on the Bush-Cheney 2000 jet less than 24 hours before the 2000 election. Of course, I voted for Bush twice.
I suggest you never bet hard earned dollars on your hunches.
I think Spector was "pleased" because he was shown a list of five, and "told in confidence" that it would be Clement or Gonzolez. Bwa-hahahahah. This is a great double-cross as well as a great pick. Dontcha love it?
Perhaps now they'll try to persuade their fellow citizens rather than relying on the courts to push their agenda. Nah. That would require too much work on their part.
However, I don't see what significance the "chief justice" has. Last Feb., my students and I spent two hours with Justice Thomas, and he outlined how the Court does things, and he basically said the CJ has no special power, no extra influence, nothing. Just one vote.
Heh, *maybe* I'll have to eat my words on the other thread. We shall see what comes of it.
YESSSSS!!!!! (My scream - even louder than Howard Dean's)
I am married to a very liberal environmental attorney. When I asked him recently who he thought President Bush should pick for the Court, he said without hesitation, "John Roberts. He is flat out the best lawyer in America." He says the Democrats are going to commit suicide if they oppose this nomination. Roberts is brilliant, as one wag has already put it, "a Supreme Court Justice out of Central Casting."
I really can't believe it! Thank you President Bush!!!!
Meltdown in the DUmpster:
"This cannot fly. I am so freaking angry. That sorry MFer * is giving the finger to all of us. Oooh I hate him."

...sucks being a loser, don't it...?
lol
Also note that John Roberts, in his capacity as a partner with Hogan & Hartson, represented the 19 states that joined the federal government in suing Microsoft.
