President Bush met today with Australia‘s President John Howard, welcoming him to the White House, after which the two had a joint press conference regarding the shared goals of our two countries in winning the War on Terror. First Lady Laura later attended an exhibition of Winslow Homer at the National Gallery of Art with Australia’s First Lady, Janette Howard and her son Richard.
It was also announced today that the President would be making a prime time announcement at 9:00 this evening to reveal the name (after much speculation), of his Supreme Court nominee to replace retiring Sandra Day O‘Connor.
From the look on the President’s face today, it could be a fun announcement tonight! ENJOY your trip to Sanity Island, and the Daily Dose!!

As I say, I do have an obligation to think about people from different backgrounds, but who share the same philosophy, people who will not legislate from the bench. That's what I told the people when I ran for President. I want to be known as the kind of person who does what he says he's going to do and -- because I believe it's right. And so, I guess the best way to put it is, I'll let you know when I'm ready to tell you who it is.

Should be an interesting night, In just about 10 minutes or so, we're gonna know who the court nominee is. Guess people are saying John Roberts, watching it on Fox News now.

I was listening to my local talk radio at 5:00 a.m. this morning, and one of the hosts was talking about Spector leaving the WH, supposedly in an "elated mood" according to Ann Compton, a reporter who was speaking about it. So the host starts ragging on President Bush, that he was probably going to pick a more moderate justice, betraying his promise to appoint a conservative and how mad he was at President Bush - IOW, it's already been interesting! AND, it's put all the nonsense about Karl Rove out of the news!
