President Bush met today with Australias President John Howard, welcoming him to the White House, after which the two had a joint press conference regarding the shared goals of our two countries in winning the War on Terror. First Lady Laura later attended an exhibition of Winslow Homer at the National Gallery of Art with Australias First Lady, Janette Howard and her son Richard.
It was also announced today that the President would be making a prime time announcement at 9:00 this evening to reveal the name (after much speculation), of his Supreme Court nominee to replace retiring Sandra Day OConnor.
From the look on the Presidents face today, it could be a fun announcement tonight! ENJOY your trip to Sanity Island, and the Daily Dose!!
Quote of the Day: Q Thank you, Mr. President. Can you tell us, as you consider Supreme Court nominees, how important it is to you to replace Justice O'Connor with another woman? And can you bring us up to date on whether you've completed interviewing candidates?
PRESIDENT BUSH: First, I'm comfortable with where we are in the process. That's important for you to know. Secondly, that I have thought about a variety of people, people from different walks of life, some of whom I've known before, some of whom I had never met before. I'm trying to figure out what else I can say that you -- I didn't say yesterday that sounds profound to you without -- without actually answering your question. (Laughter.)
As I say, I do have an obligation to think about people from different backgrounds, but who share the same philosophy, people who will not legislate from the bench. That's what I told the people when I ran for President. I want to be known as the kind of person who does what he says he's going to do and -- because I believe it's right. And so, I guess the best way to put it is, I'll let you know when I'm ready to tell you who it is.
A look like this has GOT to be first!
DOSE PING!!! Please wait until the ALL CLEAR to post or repost photos!
Pray for our President.

Thanks Ohio, glad to be here.
Hi, OhioWfan, glad to see the dose!
Should be an interesting night, In just about 10 minutes or so, we're gonna know who the court nominee is. Guess people are saying John Roberts, watching it on Fox News now.
Hi TWH!
The PM likes our President......
Thanks for the Tuesday Dose.
I like Our Boy in that gray suit.
I was listening to my local talk radio at 5:00 a.m. this morning, and one of the hosts was talking about Spector leaving the WH, supposedly in an "elated mood" according to Ann Compton, a reporter who was speaking about it. So the host starts ragging on President Bush, that he was probably going to pick a more moderate justice, betraying his promise to appoint a conservative and how mad he was at President Bush - IOW, it's already been interesting! AND, it's put all the nonsense about Karl Rove out of the news!
Howdy there!
I'd gladly chip in a few bucks toward sending a truckload of barf buckets to the dems for the duration of the confirmation process.
So far all of the threads saying John Roberts are being pulled!
