Right now, Today, Roe is settled law. That doesnt mean however, should a Different Case, with different facts come before the court that an analagous case wouldnt be decided differently.

That statement is way too sensible for many, I agree with it completely.

The Supremes overturn themselves whenever they "feel" like it, who's to stop them?

If Clement gets on the Court and votes to uphold Roe, I will have to concede that the plan to vote Republican to stop abortion has failed. And that means I won't be voting Republican again.

Overturning Roe wouldn't stop abortion or make it illegal either.

Any nominee that doesn't instantly send the Dims ballistic isn't worth spit.

I understand your point of view, but don't get ahead of yourself. Your statement had two big IFs:

1. If its Clement
2. If she turns out to be a moderate

Right now we don't know if number 1 is correct...and we are a long time for judging if 2 is correct.

Something tells me that if you walked into your house and found a man with a bloody knife standing over you child and beside them both was a bag of gold, a stack of baron bonds, the title to your house, the keys to your car, the password typed in on your computer to transfer your stocks to a random account other than yours...you'd probably pause and wonder which one to save first...

Your post is a prime example of why you people leave such a nasty taste in people's mouths.

You never know when to stop -- and you never win anybody over with that kind of crap.

As for the rest of us "one agenda tunnel folks" the answer comes naturally.

Thank God that the real pro-life people don't think like you do.

Overturning Roe wouldn't stop abortion or make it illegal either.

It would merely return the issue to the states, where the "default" setting is to vastly limit abortions.

"OUCH! That was a tad harsh. Come on now."

Sorry, Conservativebabe, but I'm one that puts harsh in the context of sucking the brains out of a young baby kicking its legs and moving its arms, seconds from birth.

Letting the GOP leaders know where their base stands on the issue is not even close to harsh. Letting know before they make the mistake of the century is pure mercy and kindness.

I stand for the country and the constitution first and foremost. As a people we are going to disagree on issues at every level and I hope that continues. I do not now or ever want to live in a country where we all agree on everything, even on the most fundamental issues of life and death. It is and can be healthy and IMHO is one of the greatest aspects of this country. As a recent poster stated it's the attitude and culture that needs to be changed. Your do or die attitude is not going to solve the problem long term if you go off on your own. Frankly I'm sick of the threats and I see them as counter productive. Thank you for your service and you have my respect and admiration on that score.

"My personal pick is Mark Levin."

My personal picks are: Mark Levin, Ann Coulter, Justice Brown, Ted Olson (sp)

Fantasy for later: Dr. Condi Rice (just to see Byrd's head explode)

Wrong on several accounts:

First, this pick, or the next one, isnot going to be 5th vote to overturn Roe v Wade.
Second, Roe v Wade will be nibbled to death, not reversed in a 180-degree turnaround.
Third, Clement was asked if she thought the constitution included a right to abortion. She pointedly dodged the question, and instead answered that the U.S. Supreme Court said it did, and that [AS A JUDGE ON AN INFERIOR COURT,] she would uphold the Supreme Court's decision.
Fourth, I've heard your political calculus before. I believe it to be wrong. The Catholic CHurch is filled of tens of millions of liberal voters who rationalize that the Democrats they vote for have no say on abortion. I don't hear a lot of pro-choice Republicans left anymore; the Clinton Republicans did NOT come back.
