Hey, after the Clement-Jones-Luttig rumor whirlwind ... who's to say?
I think I'm just going to shut up and watch.

I haven't felt like this since the Cardinals voted for the new Pope.
Hope this time turns out as good as the last time.

No, we need to save JRB for the CJ seat when Rehnquist exits. Then Jeff Sessions for the first liberal Justice retirement.

I still say Janice Rogers Brown would be the best choice!!!
Talk about courting the black community...this would be a media buster and the d(s)would just blow a gasket!!!

Not that it matters, but on MSNBC they have a short list with descriptions. Jones is not listed.

I cannot keep a DU account. My longest run there was about 25 minutes. Those guys are not tollerant in the least.I have been there under deep cover since the beginning of the year or so. Until I was outed by Bob Novak and Karl Rove.....

Your right...when he names the right guy (or gal) we need to be ready to jump to the phones, write the papers, etc. And we need to keep at it hard until the pick is confirmed.
I am optimistic about a good pick...and I don't think the media knows anything!

I'm pulling for Janice Rogers Brown, myself. Not only is she very strong and principled, but it'll immediately put the Liberal 14's Senate hijacking to the test.
If they think she's too extreme for SCOTUS, but were willing to confirm her to a lower court, that's the most crystal clear evidence that they're merely playing partisan politics to entrench liberalism in SCOTUS that I could envision.

thanks for pointing me to the Clement decisions,
she looks fine to me based on these.
The item where she claimed Roe v. Wade was "settled" is a non-issue to me. She was an appellate judge and her duty is to uphold the Supreme Court decisions. This has no bearing on how she would rule as a SCOTUS judge.
The Dems are saying that the President is only successful if his nominee can be passed 99-0. What a crock, they also think that if Bush will give them a squishy pick then he will get his economic agenda passed. Yeah right.
His only choice is a strict originalist for this pick, and a battle royale. They are going to fight him every step of the way anyway.
