ABC News Radio-10:00 CST-Bush has decided on Supreme Court nominee. Spector called to WH tonight to discuss. Expected to be "mainstream".
Prepare for the draft.
True. He did, however, like Clement spend the bulk of his time prior to being appointed as a trail judge like Clement though he was on the NH Supreme Court for a time before being appointed to the Appeals Court.
The point is, both have/had a thin paper trail.
I believe in Mississippi there is now only one abortion clinic left
Yeah, he isn't rushing ot Specter to CHOOSE a nominaiton, he's rushing to GET PERMISSION for a nomination if news is correct on a "moderate."
Specter use to be a democrat and nows he's a RINO. Just because he did something right in the Clarence Thomas confirmation doesn't mean he's a conservative. He's a liberal RINO who needs to be voted out of office.
Only 1 in SD and ND too.
Last and final word for tonight from Erick at redstate.org:
RedState is a respectable site, so I try to not flood it with unsubstantiated rumors (that is, rumors I hear from just one person), but I am passing this one on to you to add to the rumor mill. I have no relationship with the source; in fact, I got it about ten minutes ago, just as I was shutting down for the evening. But, having been flooded with emails lately, this one stands out -- maybe because it is late at night and I'm tired. So, take it with a grain of salt. Here is the email:
1. It is Joy [Clement].
2. WH will announce quickly, probably tomorrow.
3. Major players are on board.
4. Senate Dems are okay.
5. Specter is pleased. His staff is gearing up tonight.
6. Expect Dem groups to go nuts.
7. A handful of Dem Senators will play "mean" to pacify base. Bark will be worse than bite.
8. Joy is like O'Connor on business issues and we are comfortable that she is with us on upcoming life cases.
I just love watching the demands and/or panic. Fascinating.
Then what what? :-}
I agree. I would like somebody that is more clear like Jones. I don't want Souter 2.
My concern is that nobody seemed to be the slightest bit concerned about Clement until now..and then all of a sudden people are like..."wow, she doesn't have a record." Well, where was this worry yesterday?
Sometimes the herd mentality on FR and other conservative sites is just as bad as DU.
And my complaint is NOT that we are looking at her record. It is important that we make sure not to nominate someone whose philosophy is questionable, and it may be with her. But, until now, I was being led to believe by everybody on the other threads that Clement would be great. Now, once she is possibly going to be nominated, the tune changes completely. It is frustrating.
Isn't that conservative enough?
Good post........
He was just making the liberals happy by consulting with an "international jurist" about who he should pick.
The Indian PM suggested this person.
Thank you. Couldn't have said it better than you have.
If people had such a problem with her, maybe they should have said so rather than attacking a man that was never going to be nominated (Gonzales).
The lack of objection raised previously cast those that raise objection NOW in question.
I do not know enough about her to make judgement either way, but this is ridiculous.
