Listen to the Tom Tancredo Tape About Bombing Mecca
WFLA ^ | 07/18/2005

Posted on 07/18/2005 3:48:32 PM PDT by Balding_Eagle

There has been much speculation about what Tom Tancredo said on the now famous interview last Friday on WFLA-AM in Orlando, Fla.

From what I am reading here on FR, much of that speculation is wrong.

Tancredo was, in fact, suggesting that we consider (not implement, just consider implementing) a strategy similar to the strategy that Reagan used to win the Cold War.

Listen for yourself. HERE

If you think Tancredo is a nut case, and you don't want to change your thinking, move along, this clip isn't for you. Just post your thoughts without listening.

Ummm, I don't see anything at all wrong with what Tancredo said. Unless I am missing something, his comments seem perfectly reasonable to me.

Why shouldn't we threaten to annhilate Muslim holy cities if our cities are attacked with WMD's? We are fighting a war against radical Islam, why shouldn't we reserve the right to destroy that which they hold dear in the event our nation is nuked?

Come on now, it isn't as if the Muslim world is lifting a finger to stop these Islamists. The majority of Muslims tolerate and even sympathize with these murderers whom attacked us on Sept 11th. Most Muslims can't even condemn terrorist attacks against the West without adding the predictable "But the West is also at fault because....". Muslims are taught they can't take the side of an infidel over another Muslim, and it obvious that they take this to heart the bulk of the time.

How did we get so weak in the knees and politically correct that speaking the obvious, which is exactly what Tancredo did, is suddenly so controversial? We don't necessarily need the President out saying this stuff since we are nominally allied with lots of Muslim nations, but there is nothing wrong with Congressman Tancredo pointing out that threatening Islamic holy sites is something we might have to consider to prevent a nuclear holocaust from our cities.

Ugh, the public and media reaction to Tancredo's statements remind us all that the West still doesn't understand what we are up against.

I see a psychological approach to Tancredo's statement:

Keep them (Muslims) afraid...... very afraid.

Contemplation yes. Telegraphing a punch no. I think reducing Damascus and Tehran to rubble is first on the table Mecca is not. Unless you project a credible threat there is no way you can run a house to house winning strategy against Islam

mayhap this was a heads up for the super-silent Muslim majority. Perhaps they need to know that their deafening lack of condemnation of the barbarism, coupled with not a whisper of refutation - could make one wonder if they are not simply playing cozy, waiting for what is the Muslim modus operandi - to do their dirty work until they've gained - or bloodied enough ground to allow them to step out into the open. If they aren't with us = then where are they? No room for mugwumping in this war - the wider war, the "kill the infidels war."

I just want the GOP to continue in it's mission of permanent majority party. This rhetoric does nothing to further that goal. With Howard Dean and the other loonies in charge of the Democrats, we have a real opportunity to squish the Dems for generations. We can't have loose cannons like Tancredo blowing it for us.

Hey, it gets the suckers to donate to him, and that is really all his demagoguery is about. In the meantime his words are broadcast throughout the Middle East, and people there will be thinking: "Gee. Maybe Bin Laden is right about these Westerners wanting to destroy our holy sites."

heavens no. Let's not let anyone know we have a spine.

Does anyone not remember WHY Bin Laden planned and executed 9-11?

He said it himself. In all the previous bombings, mostly in the Clinton years = NOTHING was done in retaliation. The barbarism and slaughter went unpunished. Bin Laden - believed and so stated - that the deeds of 9-11 would pass on by without any significant backlash as well.

That's how bullies operate - and they don't quit until their nose is bloodied...or they know, without a doubt, that it will be - big time. Bullies are cowards - they only hold the field when no one steps up to the plate.

Then they'd read your posts, laugh, and say, "No. Just kick them in the groin again. They'll blame themselves for getting kicked and beg for more."

This won't be a story at all. The lame stream media would never consider telling Americans that Islamonzais would nuke us if they could. It would ruin their agenda and distract from important stories like Rove/Aruba/Rove/Aruba.
Or..they won't tell us why Tencrado said this at all. We'll only get the Right Winger who wants to nuke Mecca.

Tell me the majority of Americans were not thinking the same thing after 9/11 and I have a strip club in Saudi Arabia that sells bibles you might be interested in.

The majority were in favor of decisive, overwhelming violent action.

A few, like John Kerry, were more philosophical, believing such attacks were inevitable, something we would just have to learn to tolerate.

That doesn't mean he thought the ringleaders should go unpunished. No, he wanted them to hunted down and arrested by an international police force so they might face the possibility of 15-20 years in a Dutch prison just outside of Den Haag.

Which, apparently, is a sentiment shared by certain FReepers.

So we should obliterate a few billion people (99.9999% had nothing to do with any type of terrorism) just to get even? How about killing the people responsible instead of everyone who is of the same race and/or religion?

Seems to me that Tancredo is advocating mass genocide and his followers are blindly supporting him.

If we used your standard as the standard as to when and what we would say, Rush wouldn't be on the air.

Not really.

Most of these guys are polished, they know how sound bites get turned, guys like Mike Crappo, to Don Nickles, to a Mike Pence, these guys know how to deal with the media (and normally, so does Tancredo) and they never get caught like this.

Either way, this is a non story that will be done with in less then a week.

I will be the first one to admit thinking about that very thing right after 9/11. {This could be a reason I'm not in politics} I think we have proved to the islamic world that we aint putting up with any more crap {We have invaded two of their nasty little counties}. What gets me is the Muslims that live here, where are the protests about the bombings in London,Spain? And even more troubling are they on our side or not?

Tancredo is right. Personally I think that if a suit-case nuke goes off in Boston (just picked that town at random), and it is traced to Islamists, we should retaliate in kind. That should be understood in advance. If Allah permits Mecca to be atomized that would settle some of the theological debates.

I do not believe Tancredo is a nut case but his thinking on strategy is shallow. Nothing would be gained by blowing up their sacred rock. It would only take one cruise missle after all! It could be timed to hit just as a mullah was bending over. Why blow it up? What we need to do is fill a cruise missle warhead with pigs blood and guts and pig bone shrapnel. THe rock should not be blown up, but there should be a rather powerful air burst that peppers the locale with the impure products of the swinery. These products should pierce the skin of those present but not kill anybody. Then they will each have to do 2 million circumnabulations of the rock (to regain purity to blow themselves up to enter heaven) instead of blowing up innocent children! Tancredo needs to think of taking away the possibility of heaven rather than giving it to them! I find that more subtle, and one can imagine the money to be made in pork belly futures on the Chicago commodity exchange,as companies like Ratheon gear up to manufacture the first Piggly Wiggly Cruise Missle. Instead of weapons of mass destruction we can use weapons of mass contamination. Like people in horror movies who do not know the effect of silver bullets on vampires and werewolves, we make a marvelous dicovery....... Unfortunately the Chinese are ahead of us in covert swine hi tech. They have an intercontinental version viewable at this link, scroll down. I would insert the photo but do not know how, if someone wants to e-mail me the html tags to use, please PM me? thanks!): http://steelturman.typepad.com/ It is called , appropriately enough: Moo Goo Guy Gone. Strategists like Tancredo who want to strike fear into the heart of radical Islam need to start thinking of silver bullets. Invest in Porkbellies! Tatoo Koranic slogans on pigs and set them loose in Waziristan! Whats wrong with our Psy-Ops guys anyway? Are they too bound by holdover PC ideas from the Clinton Years ?

Let us be frank, Tancredo voiced a thought that concerns many of us. If Washington D.C. is obliterated there will be a tidal wave of demands that we take out Makka. Also, let us also be frank about something else, should a Muslim bomb take out Tel Aviv then Makka will be ashes.

To be honest, after 9/11 my views were a hell of alot worse then Tancredo.

That said, his point had to do with the threat of retaliation, again them, its going to be spun around, because of the way he answered it.

I'm not even saying he is wrong, I'm saying he phrased himself wrong, and could have worded it better, and wound up giving a throw away line to tag himself with, but either way, I doubt he is worried, this isn't even a story right now anyway.

If America is attacked again, this time with nukes, biological/toxin weapons, radiation (dirty) bombs etc, contaminating our cities for years, killing thousands, possibly millions, sending our economy into the dark ages, what would be your suggested response?

So we should obliterate a few billion people (99.9999% had nothing to do with any type of terrorism) just to get even?

You answer a question, with a question?

What would be your response?
