This is so interesting. I had just read page 161 in "The Truth About Hillary" by Edward Klein about Mandy. She was liberal to the core but grew up in a Republican household.

Mandy's father, Henry, died in February 2005. What did Daddy know?? and pass on to Mandy. For all we know, Daddy left Mandy volumes and volumes of "sources".
It also jumped out at me that the FBI was discussing this with Sen Rockerfeller (ahah! The Rocky memo)! The article does not mention the chairman of the intel committee, only Senator Rocky.
So that's that little circle...Hillary, Mandy Grunwald and hubby Matt Cooper.
The main scope of Judith Miller's works are WMD and Iraq. That points directly to Mr. & Mrs. Wilson. Wilson's mistake was joining the Kerry campaign and probably dropping some "secrets".
To correct it, they used Cooper to make a couple of calls to get Rove and Libby "involved" prior to anything going to print.
It is hard for me to keep the time line straight,so many different versions out there.
Did Wilson indicate he saw the fakes before going to Niger or not?

Here is something else I probably should have included in the timeline. Wilson wrote an article for The Nation, which is of course the crypto-communist magazine run by the lisping creep David Corn.
Note the date, March 3, 2003. I won't post the whole piece, but you can read it for yourself. There is plenty of criticism about Bush and the "neo-conservatives" but no mention of uranium or any suggestion that Bush misled the country ot lied. Wilson hadn't gotten around to making up that story yet.

Think about it. If Wilson really wanted to blow Bush out of the water, all he had to do was bring up what he claims he knew about the lies about Yellowcake. Wilson didn't at this time. Because he hadn't made them up yet. And he hadn't bothered to make them up yet because he wasn't yet signed on with the Kerry team.
Also note that this means that Wilson had some kind of contact with David Corn, who runs The Nation, way back before March 3, 2003.

Certainly somebody should ask Wilson how it worked out this way.
Wilson, if I recall correctly, has claimed he talked to other people--like at the CIA and State--right after the State Of The Union Address, to complain.
Who were they? We need names. Otherwise, it is clearly a case of Wilson making up a story to help Kerry. Something he had never mentioned to anybody (least of all the CIA) until he was working on the Kerry team.
Wilson certainly seems capable of such a thing, since he seems to lie easily about just about anything.

Yes, Cooper has consistently said that he had other sources. He claims to have even talked about them before the Grand Jury. But for some odd reason the media never seem to ask him about them, like who they are or when he talked to them? Was it before he talked to Rove?
But you raise a good point, that Wilson could have told somebody at this point in time who told Cooper. It is very clear that Wilson was a busy bee. He was telling people at the Nation, the NYT and the Washington Post about his "investigation."
It wouldn't surprise me if he wouldn't have worked in the fact that his wife was at CIA--to try to authenticate his tale and pump up his own credibility. After all, the NYT and WP were posting some damn serious charges--that the nation went to war based on a lie told by its President. And who the hell is Joe Wilson?
So yeah, it's highly probably that Wilson would have managed to work in the fact his wife was with the CIA, to try to give the story more authority with these reporters.

Wilson in some ways reminds me of one of my brothers
He likes to pretend he's big man on campus and brag about how great he is

IMO .. Wilson is a willing puppet for someone else though .. someone big wants to keep pushing this stuff
