Non-Story about a Non-Scandal

The liberal press is once again making a fizzling attempt to discredit the Bush Administration. The same folks that brought you Rathergate are all too eager to embarrass themselves again.

The whole house of cards starts with allegations that amount to a non-crime. Valerie Plame last served as a covert CIA agent in 1997, the law makes it a crime to reveal the agents identity within five years of that individual serving covertly. This “leak” occurred in 2003, six years after Plame served covertly. Even Plame’s supervisor at the CIA has gone on record saying that there was no crime in releasing Plame’s status. So we are dealing with a “leak” that is a non-crime.

But the “leak” is really a non-leak. Plame’s neighbors say they have known of Plame’s connections to the CIA for years – long before the issue became public, so her identity has already been compromised or leaked. So now we have a non-leak that is a non-crime.

But what about the source? The press is eager to pin it on Karl Rove, but Rove’s attorneys insist that he heard of Plame’s CIA connections from press reporters. So Rove is not the source. So now we have non-leak, that is a non-crime, from a non-source.

But why did Rove even talk about this connection to reporter Matthew Cooper? Joe Wilson alleges that it was retribution for his report that dismissed Niger’s involvement in providing yellowcake uranium to Iraq. Experts, however, have concluded that Wilson’s report was such an inadequate piece of work that it had no impact, in fact it actually helped the administration by bolstering the credibility of our European allies’ intelligence claims that Saddam was indeed pursuing uranium from Niger. So now we have a non-leak, that is a non-crime, from a non-source, motivated by a non-impact non-report.

But Wilson insists that his trip was directed by the Bush Administration, specifically Dick Cheney. Cheney denies issuing any such guidance, in fact, Wilson’s own wife appears to have orchestrated the trip. So now we have a non-leak, that is a non-crime, from a non-source, motivated by a non-impact non-report, following a trip that was non-Bush Administration directed.

This clearly shows how far the liberal press will go to create a scandal. It is anything but non-partisan. In fact, it is pure non-sense.

But even if there was no cry and Rove didn't have anything to do with the non-crime, shouldn't we fire or punish him to show our hearts are in the right place? And should we close Guantanamo for the same reason? And so on and so forth... :^)

It shows how desperate they (libs) really are and it is probably an indicator that the Bush admin is "squeaky clean" because if there were scandles worth airing they'd be aired. Its the contrast between a Democrat and a Republican Whitehouse. A corupt Republican Whitehouse will always be less corrupt than a corrupt Democrat Whitehouse because of the nature of the openly hostile media towards Republicans and conservatives.

...it looks as if this scandal is about a spy who was not endangered, a whistle-blower who did not blow the whistle and was not smeared, and a White House official who has not been fired for a felony that he did not commit. And so far the only victim is a reporter who did not write a story about it.


It would be logical to name it the Not-a-gate scandal, but I prefer a bilingual variation. It may someday make a good trivia question:

Love your post and time line. I thought you would get a kick out of just how hard Valerie Plame tried to keep her identity a secret in order to further her CIA " Career"
and cover, which at best would have been as a falsely private employed lady who was a courier of coded documents.
She could not have been under any deep cover , unless her present story is a "cover". Who Knows, maybe she is
the Dems answer to Monica Lewinsky and is attempting to insinuate herself into our Presidents private BBQ or even worse, his weiners? She has obviously failed at that.

Could minor Ambassador Joe Wilson himself have been the source in blowing his own Wife's cover?

It is distinctly possible, (though it may be unlikely that Joe Wilson himself directly was NY Times Judith Miller's source), since Joe Wilson himself evidently routinely bragged openly to strangers about her CIA employment, prior to such "cover" being "blown" in the press.

Here's an example of Joe's apparently routine and open bragging about Valerie being a "CIA agent," which became known directly to me over a year ago:

He certainly bragged about it per a famous and highly reliable source's (named below) account of his own face-to-face encounter with Amb. Joe Wilson prior to Valerie Plame's "outing" as a CIA agent/employee.

Based upon a personal conversation (we were in a small group eating; it was NOT an "off the record") I had with eminent historian Victor Davis Hanson (we were at a luncheon table together during a trip to Europe), it appeared entirely possible that Joe Wilson himself was the (or one source, if not the original one) possible source in revealing his own wife's status as a CIA agent or employee.

Victor Davis Hanson (Wilson presumably knew Victor Davis Hanson wrote regularly for NRO (National Review Online), had done OpEds for the Wall street Journal, and other publications, and had his own Website with a widespread following) said he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were both in the same "Green Room" before a televised debate-discussion on Iraq, etc. and Joe first warned the TV make-up person not to get powder on his $14,000 Rolex watch, then he bragged to Victor about several things (possessions and trips to Aspen, etc.), like his expensive car (I think it was a Mercedes), and then bragged about his beautiful wife who, Joe Wilson said (braggingly) was a CIA operative.

I asked Victor Davis Hanson Why he didn't write up this account.(?) He replied that Joe Wilson would probably simply deny it, since only he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were in the Green Room together before the broadcast.

However, it is now easy to surmise that Joe Wilson is a crass, materialistic, self-promoting, vain, egotistical, bragaddocio-opportunist, so this account is perfectly consistent with Valerie Plame's TWO photo shoots in Vanity Fair. (Or was it Vogue? No, probably too crass for Vogue, n'est pas?)
