The Plot Thickens – Matthew Cooper lied.

Posted on 07/17/2005 9:50:46 AM PDT by Pukin Dog

If you did not see Matthew Coopers performance this morning on Meet the Press, you should have, because it gave away the plot for the attack on Karl Rove.

Cooper flat-out lied when he told Tim Russert that he first heard the identity of Joe Wilson’s wife from Rove. Rove never mentioned the woman’s name, only that Wilson’s wife worked for the CIA. He never said who that woman was.

Cooper, clearly under orders to keep the fake-scandal alive, told that whopper to Tim Russert, because without it, the story would die a quick death.

Remember what is going on here.

This is not about Rove, it is about the Supreme Court. The goal is not to just ‘get Rove’ as some are saying, but to create an environment where the Democrats can garner enough public opinion to begin arguing that George Bush should not be allowed to set the direction of the Supreme Court while under this cloud of suspicion.

The Democrats are working toward connecting the fake Rove Scandal to Bush, which can only happen after Karl Rove’s security clearance is revoked. If that happens, the Democrats can then accuse Rove of nefarious activities which he will not be able to defend against without the ability to either access or reference classified material. The Democrats want Rove’s clearance so that he can be framed.

So what you saw today, was the husband of one of Hillary Clinton’s main lieutenants lying on television to keep a dying story alive. Matthew Cooper is without credibility and should not be trusted.

Before anyone asks me, none of the above is the product of my personal opinion.

Mitch McConnell has a good piece out today that mentions that the Republicans voted for liberals on the SC when the Repubs were the minority party. Therefore; it is only fair that it work the other way around. I believe this is a point that should be mentioned over and over again. The American people are not stupid and they will see the fairness of that.

Huge difference.

"Wilsons wife works for the CIA" = innocent

"Wilsons wife, covert operative Valerie Plame, works for the CIA" = guilty

It is the same as if I say "Cooper's wife". You imagine a meek little suburban housewife.

BUT, if I say he is married to Mandy Grunwald, his reporting takes on a whole different meaning.

Sorry but we don't accept anonymous sources at Free Republic. We've been burned too many times.

I've logged your piece in the Official Database of FR Opinion. You'll have to provide info on your source to move up to the the Official Database of FR Opposition Research or, even better yet, the Official Database of FR Inside Info.

Cooper's own email, which was very mysteriously leaked to Time magazine's bitter rival, Newsweek, said only that Rove mentioned to Cooper that Wilson was sent to Niger by his wife, "who apparently works for the CIA." It's hard to imagine that Cooper would have sent such a non-specific email to his editor if Karl Rove had specifically given him the name of Valerie Plame for the first time.

I did not see Cooper on MTP, but I would like to know, did he say he learned of Plame's NAME from Rove, or her IDENTITY? Perhaps Cooper was not exactly lying, if he said he learned of her "identity" from Rove, if Rove was indeed the first person who told him that Wilson's wife worked for the CIA. But clearly he is intending to confuse the public in order to take the heat off his own false and libelous story he ran after speaking to Rove, when he wrote about a nefarious coordinated effort by the White House to get revenge on Joe Wilson by outing his wife.

I noticed that also.

Such lame arguments are embarrassing.

Not exactly lying? I work for Delta Airlines. Did I just give you my identity? Cooper flat-out lied.

That won't happen. How could it?

This is not about Rove, it is about the Supreme Court.

Bush should never have consulted with the 4 Senators last week. Instead he should immediately have nominated a staunch conservative nominee to the SC. That would have taken the plamegame off the front pages. Today's "meet the press" was nothing but the presstitutes own damage control of their evil and faulty work. Similar to the faked TANG fiasco!!!

Of course it wont happen, which the Democrats will then use to suggest that Bush is "Covering Up" for Rove. Harry Reid already spoke out of turn. But then, Harry Reid is an idiot.

Good rant. I think the dems are just throwing mud to see where it sticks. Right now Rove is catching all the mud. When the President announces a Supreme Court nominee, the dems will start throwing mud at the nominee, but will continue the attack on Rove. Hey how did you make out in that spelling bee?

Made up. Her real name is Pussy Galore and her husband's real name is Bond, James Bond.
