Barone was just on Fox and nicely fisked the Karl Rove teapot tempest.

Interestingly, the piece immediately followed a news alert (shwishhhhh, BONG) of Wilson answering a question when leaving a studio somewhere. Barone - as per usual - dispassionately explained the currently-known details of the Plame kerfuffle. When asked by the Fox anchor if Wilson's remarks about whether naming Plame was quote "an abuse of power in the West Wing", Barone sanguinely replied "Wilson wrote in his book that his wife did not suggest him for the Niger mission, and that was not true, so Wilson has zero credibility."

Barone speculated that Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald is now pursuing someone who lied to the grand jury under oath or to one of his investigators (the Martha Stewart mistake). Barone said it is clear now that Plame was not a covert operative and so there has been no violation of the law protecting covert agents.

Yes, I saw that too. Barone has so much credibility in my opinion. His election coverage was the best. It made me feel better about this whole thing after having the misfortune of reading Newsweek's coverage.

LOL! Maybe Barone ought to take a look at this:

Here

Maybe not now, according to the letter of the law, but the CIA sure thinks she was at the time.

Wilson's honesty has been debunked by Cheney, Tenet and HIMSELF. I'm still trying to figure out how Miller is involved since they say she didn't write anything. Must be in an e-mail someplace. Cooper even said in his interview today that he was surprised that his email about Rove came to light....which means he was NOT willing to hand it over and they literally "gottem".

Judith Miller and Mr. Mandy Grunwald were protecting someone and it was not Karl Rove ...

Nor was it Journalism

They killed that long ago.

I'd venture that she WAS listed as such at the time and owes the gov a lot of money for "extra pay" given to such an agent. I'll bet her and hubby have been ripping us off for years.

"but the CIA sure thinks she was at the time."

Yes, the anonymous source used in that MSM editorial seemed pretty certain about what he/she was saying. And whenever I am seeking the truth on any topic, the first place I turn is to MSM "anonymous sources".

< sarcasm off >

This from the link you suppled:

"If she was not undercover, we would have no reason to file a criminal referral," the CIA official said, insisting on anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation.

Looks like they were either wrong or lying. No matter which case they no longer have any credibility.

What was your point?

Wilson gave a "Super secret" sneak peek of his unreleased book to a female reporter.

The female reporter gave an on air book review - mentioning the credits in Wilson's book are given to his wife, Valery Plame. In the book, it says she's a undercover CIA agent as well. The first printing includes both her name and CIA status.

The first printing of the book was then delayed.

The other members of the left wing press caught the leak, and called Rove to verify the "Super secret" information. Once they got his reply on record, they claimed that he was the leaker, saving Wilson from his own stupidity.

Wilson goes on to rewrite his book, and includes the leak in the title and the text.

Fritzderals knows no laws were broken when Plame was outed, he's after the bigger cheese.

Lied that Karl Rove told them that Valerie Plame was a covert agent.

I'm thinking there's a connection with the dems in this mix somewhere. Usually when the dem's come out swinging at a Republican, like they've done this last week at Rove, it's because it's something that they, the dems themselves are guilty of. In other words they cover up for their missdeeds by pointing the finger at the other guy. And I think the media is somehow involved in their cover up.

So I'm watching for a boomerang to come back and hit a dem (maybe even a senator) right between the eyes. I think that's why those in the TV talk media this morning were still trying to make Rove look like he'd committed a crime even after we've all learned that he was not guilty of committing a crime.

See #14.
I saw the on air book review myself. I was cruising the left wing news stations. That's how I know it was Wilson. The reporter was female, but I don't remember what she looked like. I was paying more attention to the Capital building behind her. It could have been Miller.

If Washington missed this and nails the wrong person, I'll never have faith in any Washington investigation from that point on.

And did you get a load of the frowning photo of Bush the Billings Gazette ran? That put me on guard before I read a word.

The Left has been painting Rove as being in trouble because he was called back three times to the Grand Jury. As usual, they're completely wrong. I believe he has been called back to respond to questions about the ongoing testimony that has been coming in piecemeal. Of course we aren't told how many times Wilson or anyone else has been called to the Grand Jury. In fact, after trying to Google "Joe Wilson testifies at Grand Jury," I came up with nothing. Has the fat scum sucker even appeared there?

I too think that Fitzgerald is going after whoever lied under oath and it isn't Rove. It would be sweet justice if it were Wilson. A Judge despises liars and since I heard Fiztgerald was a dogged prosecutor, he'll more than likely ferret out the person who lied under oath.
