Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Thursday that President Bush is "losing credibility with the American people" because of his policies regarding the war in Iraq and the controversy involving Karl Rove.
The American people have lost trust in Bush's trust and integrity "because his administration is playing politics with our national security," Dean said in a press release.
"The president must keep his word and put patriotism ahead of partisanship," the former governor of Vermont continued, adding that Bush "must demonstrate that he values protecting CIA operatives fighting on the front lines in the war on terror over protecting his political operatives."
Dean, who was an unsuccessful candidate in the 2004 presidential election, claimed that Bush's problems are twofold: The White House's Iraq policies are failing, he said, and Rove, the president's top advisor, is "embroiled in scandal over his role in the politically motivated and possibly illegal outing of a covert CIA operative."
As proof of his claims, Dean pointed to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll, which shows that only 41 percent of Americans think Bush is being "honest and straightforward," his lowest ranking as president.
That's a drop of nine percentage points since January, when a majority (50 percent to 36 percent) indicated that he was honest and straightforward.
Calls seeking comment from the Republican National Committee were not returned by press time.
"As proof of his claims, Dean pointed to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll, which shows that only 41 percent of Americans think Bush is being "honest and straightforward," - I don't trust any poll quoted by any Democrat.
Char :)
I can see trying to run that argument by a judge one day:
"Your Honor, the witness is obviously lying - as evidenced by these polls that show that a heck of a lot of people think he's not being honest and straightforward."
And Dean has credibility?
Bush should fire Rove for the CIA flap......
...right after all of the Dems who've revealed CIA operatives resign their seats.
John Kerry, for example.....
Any Freeper got that list? It involves at least three sitting U.S. Senators of the Democratic Party.
deanie weenie suggesting prez should put patriotism over partisanship.......waddaload.....coming from Mr. I-hate-America-Partisan himself.
But then, Dean 'hates Republicans and everything they stand for'....so this is to be expected.
Rassmussen has Bush under 50 today, hardly happens. All of the piling on has an effect even if it is not true. This is what is why the Dems are so scary!!
I'm truly beginning to suspect that Rove put LSD in all the democrat's coffee.
Either Rove or the evil Jooooossss.
I think that President Bush is an honest and decent man. I am glad that he brought respect back to the White House after 8 years of sleeze, lies and corruption. The problem with a lot of these Dem's is this....they think everybody is as sleezy as they are. They think everyone operates the way they do, but guess what Dem's, you are dealing with a man that has honesty, integrity and brains. You lose. Just my opinion.
If there is one Man in America that can comment on lost credibility with true authority it is Howard Dean.
Howie thinks he has the force. "Mr. and Mrs. America, these are not the droids you are looking for", as Howie waves his hand across the podium...
"Hey, Howie maybe you can learn how to do this."
"When will the ever learn?......when will they ever learn...?"
