Hey Kelly,

Are you a lawyer?

Do you know if there's anything wrong, legally, with Senators asking a Supreme Court Justice NOT to retire?

Let's get real: The Wilson's are looking for a very healthy retirement check from the US government. The picture of the two in the sports car says it all.

Her name is Valerie PlaMe, and it's not for any journalist to decide when it becomes okay to expose a covert agent. Do you realize that people often get murdered by their own governments when it's discovered that they aided and abetted the activities of a covert CIA agent? Do you realize that no covert agent will be able to gain the trust of potential foreign informants, if those people think that their participation will be subject to sudden unprovoked exposure just because some idiot journalist feels like blabbing? Exposing a current OR former covert agent -- whether CIA, military Special Forces, or any other agency -- without explicit permission from the agency that employed the person, should be a guaranteed ticket to a long stint in the slammer.

And the more that this is put out the more the ridiculousness of the Democratic position becomes apparent.

"it's not for any journalist to decide when it becomes okay to expose a covert agent."

Maybe you should read the law and classification.
Plane did not meet the qualifications as a "covert agent."

She was working at Langley which last time I checked is not "foreign" soil. LOL

Taking little snippets from the great body of statutory and common law, and then claiming that anything that doesn't violate the particular snippet you cited is legal, is a silly exercise. Trust me, if you happen to know the identity of a former covert CIA agent whose role has not been publicly disclosed by the CIA, you'd do well to keep it to yourself.

In the Plame case, the journalists in question may be able to make a plausible argument that they didn't realize the agent's identity was still secret, since they were given the info about her former role by a high-ranking government official. The high ranking government official, however, is likely to be in deep doo-doo -- though from a practical standpoint, his prominent role in the Bush Adminstration will mean he probably won't be prosecuted.

In an interview by Shep on Fox the day before yesterday the interviewee (who may have been Frist or some WH person) said person stated that one cannot call an employee of CIA who goes through the Langley gates daily and publicly a covert agent.

He also stated that Plame was doing just that so there was no secret about her employment at CIA. Nor was she under cover.

The Dems hate Rove....and they've already played their ace by trying to take away his security clearance. They knew it wouldn't pass...so it was just one of those "we did it for the children" things.

It's "play" and "poll" in the Dem camp.

I'm betting Miller comes out Monday and settles this.

You're entitled to your opinion, however my opinion is based on law and has been referenced by attorneys who were asked about Plame. BTW, I was in Marine Corps intelligence and I don't need any advice from strangers. LOL

Bruce Sanford, a First Amendment attorney was interviewed on Fox News "Special Report with Brit Hume" and Sanford said the same thing I am saying here, that Plame was not considered a "covert agent" because she had not been stationed in a foreign country within the five year limit.

Next case...

While it is true that it is not up to journalists, is has been said that Valerie was HERSELF, telling her cocktail party friends that she worked for the CIA.
