In a shock result, Karl Marx has been voted the greatest ever philosopher following a poll by Melvyn Bragg's Radio 4 show In Our Time. In the public's poll, which assessed 20 philosophers, Marx, author of the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital, got 27.93% of the 30,000 votes. In second place came David Hume with 12.67%, followed by Ludwig Wittgenstein with 6.8%. Plato trailed in fifth place and Socrates at eighth.
Andrew Chitty, who, at Sussex University, teaches the UK's only MA in Marxist philosophy, said: "This shows that philosophy should take Marxism seriously. It is possible he won because Marxists organised a mass vote; they're much more organised than Hegelians, for instance.

And yes, after visits to western Europe a few weeks ago, our own US President and Secretary of State have gone too far toward appeasing terrorists in Israel. Even as so many "settlers" are being forced to leave their homes, the fight is on again in Israel due to a new surge in terrorist attacks (including mortar attacks on residences). That's one of the reasons that I'm angry with western Europe (and not only France).
There is much news from the Palestinians that should be more widely disseminated.

Those numbers, BTW, were from a 2003 TimesOnline article with information from the 2001 decennial government census.

I understand, that is one of the problems in the UK we try to be a bridge but sometimes the load maybe too heavy.
On the Israel subject I do think the wall was a great idea and hope that once the Israelis and Palestinians are split then there can be some progress, if only for security for Israel.
The West really needs to not fund terror literature and other things in the PA. Any money spent should be given to Arabs that are not jihadi mentalists but they are hard to find, that is if the Jihadis do not string them up first.

As to Palestine, how odd that you ignore that the Stern and Irgun gangs were terrorists who murdered not only British soldiers, but innocent civilians, inc their own people. Including the torture and murder of two British soldiers and the assassination of Jews who supported the British. I assume you are aware that many Jews HELPED the British hunt down the two murderous gangs and great men like Ben Gurion told Jews to help the British stop the Irgun and Stern.
I will assume you DONT know that in 1941 Abraham Stern actually meant with Nazi agents to agree a deal whereby he would attack the British in Palestine in return for a Jewish homeland in Palestine if the Nazis won the war. Think I am making it up?. Check.
And what did America ever do the for the Jews?. It was the British who wrote the Balfour Declaration and gave the Jews their first homeland. All America did for Jews was refuse them entry in 1938-39 whilst the UK took in tens of thousands of Jewish children and refugees. Anne Frank would be alive today if the US hadn’t refused her family’a application.
Antisemitism is a very small if unpleasant problem and one which the native population bar the BNP/Nazi types dosent indulge in. As I said, earlier, the facts confirm this.
Most British people like America and Americans. We are awash with American culture, too much at times. Yes, the US comes in for criticism sometimes, but so what. Sometimes it deserves it.

One is political, the other based on religion/race and besides not all Israelis are Jews.
