President Bush and his Cabinet met this morning, after which Bush met with recipients of the 2005 Democracy Award of the National Endowment for Democracy.
Today the White House slashed its forecast for the fiscal 2005 budget deficit by nearly $100 billion due to unexpectedly large tax revenues in recent months.
Condi Rice continues her diplomatic visits in Asia, and Laura, Barbara and Jenna Bush continue their trip to Africa to promote AIDS prevention and strengthen the role of women there.

Thanks, GM.
Wow...in early two days this week!
Note the pejorative caption. "With Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove seen at left, President Bush speaks during a meeting in the Cabinet Room of the White House ... . Bush said Wednesday that he will not comment on top political adviser Karl Rove's role in leaking the identity of a CIA operative while the investigation is ongoing."
Karl doesn't look worried.
President Bush and recipients of the 2005 Democracy Award of the National Endowment for Democracy in the Oval Office of the White House. From left, Mohammed Nasib, Sakeena Yacoobi, the president and Sarwar Hussaini. The three democracy activists from Afghanistan are leaders of civil society organizations and have distinguished themselves in educating average citizens and local leaders about the basic values and principles of democracy.
Going for a walk with my beloved, so I'll see you later....
THANKS for the DOSE, Gretchen!

Skechers Brings Idol to Campaign
Skechers USA is adding a little music power to the brand, signing American Idol winner Carrie Underwood to a new global endorsement agreement.
As part of the agreement, Skechers will feature the 22-year-old singer in its sports and fusion styles in a variety of scenes that reflect Underwood's interests. Underwood will appear in Skechers ads and P-O-P. The campaign, which will launch this fall, will coincide with the American Idols Live! Tour 2005 and the debut of Underwood's country album set for release in November on 19 Recordings/Arista records.
Underwood became the new American Idol after viewers cast more than 500 million votes during the season. American Idol ended its fourth season in May.
"We are extremely excited to have Carrie represent Skechers in our marketing campaigns, and to be affiliated with such a dynamic performer," said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers in a statement. "She is the kind of star young women can relate to. The mix of fashion and music is essential to both our industries and truly benefits the stars and the brand's associated with them."
Skechers previously tapped other celebrities, including Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera to promote the brand. (I know you like her .. hope she doesn't go down the same road as those 2 oinkers .. LOL.)

ROFL! He certainly does NOT!
If you look at the pictures of Karl Rove, especially the one behind Pres. Bush at the cabinet meeting, he looks like the cat that ate the canary!!!
