BEIJING, July 13 (Reuters) - China has moved for the second time this year to limit outside involvement in its electronic media, banning city and provincial broadcasters from even cooperating with foreign firms.

One Chinese television company, Qinghai TV, said such regulations had caused it to cancel plans to work with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., the China News Service and the People's Daily Online reported.

More proof that China was never actually reforming. One step forward, two steps back. It was all an NEP tease operation.

Globalism and free trade is really working there as well as it is working here. When do we lynch the free traitors?

Yeah, and we better get it too. No Communist China control of any U.S. energy outfits. Not ever.

Bark up another tree Red China.

Every american corporation gets screwed by the chinese and they still go back for more.

Kinda reminds me of my old fraternity hazing days with the paddle. "Can I have another sir"

All this frantic banning of internal comms tends to confirm Mark Steyn's guess. China is coming apart at the seams due to uneven wealthing of the economy (broadly speaking: the coast is rich, the inland poor). Democratisation will occur, but there will be some "phase change" in their society first.

"Yeah, and we better get it too."

HA!!
Not likely.

" No Communist China control of any U.S. energy outfits. Not ever."

Yea, sure.
But I'll quote again, "A capitalist will sell the executioner the rope used to hang 'em with." {paraphrased}
Sad, but true.
We've the *freedom* to destroy ourselves.

"Bark up another tree Red China."

China's barking up the only tree in town, Donna.
China's only doing the things their leaders deem are in the best interest(s) of themselves. [read: the Chinese rulers]
What else could anyone expect if the Chinese are to maintain an iron fisted control over such a massive population, and, keep 'em *thinking* right?
~eh?

Securing essentials *like* reliable, cheap energy source(s), providing national security, and perhaps most important protecting a nation's information source(s) sound pretty sane to me.
Providing said nation possesses a serious desire to survive, that is.

See any of our leaders doing any *one* of these kinds of things to protect our culture here in the USA?
I sure don't.

...& that's the whole point. ;^)

"Thank you USA government for taking 5 BILLION of our dollars EVERY MONTH and giving it to the Chinese government."

Yup.
Doesn't make a bit of sense, does it.

The Chinese are hard core communists, we are "free market" capitalists.
The Chinese are *not* a free anything & hate capitalists wherever they're from.
Always have & always will.
Seeing what the Chinese Reds are up to ain't that hard, y'know?

Unless.
We as a nation *&* our elected leaders have become suicidal.

In which case?

...we're succeeding, nicely. ;^)

Isn't that essentially what uselful idiots do, get screwed?
Well??? ;^)

"Kinda reminds me of my old fraternity hazing days with the paddle. 'Can I have another sir'"

Uh-huh.
We've taped a sign on the back of an entire nation simply reading, "Kick Me!"

So when they do kick we're *surprised* & *angered*???

...what's wrong with that picture? :o)

Yeah, they probably understand their form of governance can't withstand the scrutiny of a, more or less, awakened and informed citizenry. A lot like our own Dims, eh?

I meant to point out the link is apparently dead now. This or a similar article is still hanging around the web under other bylines. Can't find the Reuters/cnn/netscape piece anywhere. BTW, ever try to find a single article at Reuters on line??? Good luck!
