"Rapper who applauded 9/11 loses airport gig (TSA)"
Houston Chronicle ^ | July 15, 2005 | MIKE GLENN

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "When Bassam Khalaf raps, he calls himself the Arabic Assassin.
On the Web: Khalaf's music Web site. NOTE: This site contains obscene material
A Houston-based rapper said his decision to call himself the "Arabic Assassin" was meant to stir up a bit of controversy in the music business.
The stage persona along with some incendiary lyrics in one of his songs also helped get Bassam Khalaf fired this month from his job as a baggage screener at Bush Intercontinental Airport.
"I thought it was kind of ridiculous. What does my music have to do with my job?" Khalaf said Thursday."
ARTICLE SNIPPET #2: "Khalaf doesn't deny that the material can be considered somewhat shocking but said it is an artistic statement and doesn't mean he supports or condones terrorism.
The lyrics on one song, Bringing the Pain, include references to flying a plane into a building on Sept. 11, 2005."

"Dutch extend probe into suspected Islamist group"
Wed 27 Jul 2005 9:37 AM ET
By Emma Thomasson
ROTTERDAM, July 27 (Reuters) -
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Prosecutors said the case of Nouriddin El Fatmi, arrested in Amsterdam on June 22 allegedly in possession of a loaded pistol, should also be joined to that of the other members of the network dubbed the "Hofstad" group by Dutch intelligence.
Plooy told the court that Rachid Belkacem, a 32-year-old Dutch citizen arrested in London last month and extradited to the Netherlands this week, also had clear links with six of the Hofstad group suspects.
He said the Dutch authorities were seeking to confirm recent media reports that Al Issa had been arrested in Syria. If true, they would seek to question and extradite the man suspected of being the Hofstad group's spiritual leader."
