NEW YORK -- A doctor who once cared for sick children at Don Imus' New Mexico ranch has sued the tart-tongued radio personality for slander, claiming he made false derogatory comments about him on his "Imus in the Morning" show.
Dr. Howard Allen Pearson says in court papers that on at least four days last year, Imus said Pearson "was one of the worst doctors in the world and did not care if children suffered."
Pearson's lawsuit says Imus apparently misunderstood the physician's response to a morning call to treat a child for pain in July 2004.
Pearson left the main house and began a quarter-mile walk to the infirmary. Because the nurse had said there was no emergency, Pearson declined a ride offered by Imus' wife, court papers say.
The doctor says he gave the child pain medicine, and she resumed normal activities. About 45 minutes later, Imus, armed with a gun and a knife, pulled up in his truck, jumped out and began yelling and cursing at Pearson, the papers say.

The New Mexico Ranch is a scam and serves as a palatial abode for him and his family and sometimes his broadcasting staff. Further, the number of kids who are invited there, is minimal.
He gives credibility to the adage "it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." He is so abusive, he can barely get a sportscaster to work with him.
Don Imus is a sophomoric, ignorant, brain damaged addict and a dried out drunkard whose primary modus operandi is trying to demean others.
There, I said it and I'm glad.
Deidre is Imus's second wife, they were married December 17, 1994. He has four grown daughters from his first marriage, which ended in divorce in 1979.

Don Imus frequently mentions that his wife had a
track scholarship at Villanova. According to
Don, she was a middle distance runner.
Deirdre Coleman (although you'll sometimes see it spelled
Deidre)
A March 4, 1999 Web posting on "DeLorenzo's Dugout" by James DeLorenzo states that she never ran for Villanova.
but she did run the Fairfield (CT) Half Marathon about 5 years
ago. The course goes right past Imus' house.
I recall that she ran the New York Marathon a few years ago and WFAN had a
contest to predict her time. I think she ran a pretty good time, maybe close
to 3 hours.

The only person who going to make out on this is Imus's lawyer the infamous David Boise.
I read the article as if Imus was so outraged that he armed himself to face the Doctor. (I was very willing to suspect the worst of Imus that I may have read more than was actually there.) Guns are no problem for me. Rather like them as a matter of fact. Of course that is assuming that they are in the hands of stable, rational human beings all of which Imus is not.
I was embarrassed for him because it showed how small he really is as a man.
And I've liked him for years.
Is she suing? I hate lawsuits, but better men have been convicted of sexual harassment with fewer witnesses and less proof.
Don Imus is still alive?
"I think Imus will win this one."
I wouldn't bet on that. Disparaging someone in their profession is one of the very few actionable areas of American defamation law. I imagine part of the case would be why was the doctor so far from th patients in the first place. As for the girl having been in pain all night, I'd question why the doctor wasn't called sooner.
This will be settled to the doctor's advantage, based on what's reported here, that's my guess.
I know, that's how they wanted you to read the article. But one of the second things anyone notices about Imus watching him on the air, is that he's always armed. Your comment was uninformed, and now you have information. It's silly to argue to me how right you were before you knew better.
"only that he was armed. Imus is ALWAYS armed."
Didn't he fire a nanny in the middle of the night for having a toy gun for the kid to play with?
Yes he did.
I hope the doctor takes millions from Imus.
not abusing access to a microphone.
He only looks dead.
That's what they pay him to do :-)
Thank gawd I'm not a Nielsen family.
I mean, c'mon.
Not only should IMus lose his charitable license for neglegence, he should be made to pay back the millions of dollars he in essence used to fund his own personal living expenses at that swanky New Mexico ranch, which I understand is only used a few months a year in helping the kids.
Imus is a full-on bleeping spit-stain.
Yes, this is what I've heard as well. Howard Stern (yes, I know, not as reliable as FNC, but still preferred to Dan Rather) is constantly harping on this guy because of the ranch. I think the biggest shocker of this story is that it actually refers to a kid being at the ranch. I need to start up a business so I can attribute everything to it. When I bought my car, used, I actually purchased it from a medical practice. Why the medical practice needed a Saab wagon is beside me. Actually, knowing that my taxes go to fight muslim extremists makes me proud to be a tax payer.
This one: "What a moron Imus is. What in the world did he think he needed a gun and a knife for?"
You acted like only a moron would possess such things, that no one in their right mind needs either. That was uninformed. I explained that not only is a gun and a knife not out of place on a New Mexico ranch, but they are normal attire for Imus.
I'm not bent out of shape at all.... Good night :~D
