Call Up the Troops, Then Clean the Grill

"It's like the Howard Dean days," says a lady who is standing over by the pool, eating a piece of sushi. And in form, at least, it is: groups of strangers meeting in suburban back yards or tiny downtown apartments on a Saturday night, telling stories of "how I got involved," resuscitating that common enemy from the heady pre-election days, known in these circles as "the fascist government" or "the people destroying this country" or sometimes simply "Them."

The occasion is a throwback to those pre-November days of hope and action: one of more than 1,000 house parties around the nation organized by the activist group MoveOn.org designed to "protect the Supreme Court and have some fun, too."

This one is in the backyard of Chuck Fazio's house in Mount Vernon, a lovely spot on the site of George Washington's pig farm, overlooking Dogue Creek on one side and Fazio's pool on the other. The pool is decorated with what he jokingly calls his "tiki luau masks."

"Back here I want it to feel like a different place," says Fazio, 41, who runs his own media company.

Fazio's story is much like those of the 30 or so guests who have shown up after signing up for the party on MoveOn's Web site. Last time he felt this jazzed up was at the "Vote for Change" concert organized by MoveOn at MCI Center just before the election. There was "Bruce" ("We're huge Springsteen fans") singing his heart out for John Kerry, thousands of like-minded groovesters waving their arms and singing along, still giddy in that last window of giddiness, when there was still a chance.

Then came that black post-election phase when people at the party recall feeling "pretty depressed" or "burned out" or "drained" or "exhausted."

Isn't that special. The losers have their own little support group.

"Dear President Bush:

You are a fascist, a nazi and are destroying America.

Enclosed is a list of people I think you should nominate to the Supreme Court.

Thanks in advance for your consideration."

If they didn't support themselves, no one would.

Yes, those heady days when Dean was the Dem frontrunner. Of course that was before a single actual vote was cast! Talk about living in a dream world: these people are reliving the glory days as made so by a dream. Let's Do the Time Warp Again!

"It's like the Howard Dean days,"

And we hope it is destined for an equal amount of success.

Doesn't it seem a little obstructionist to be preparing to protest a Supreme Court nominee when you don't even know who is nominated? I may be feeling a little bit cynical, but it's like they are going to attack any nominee, no matter whom Bush nominates.

I guess these losers still dont know they lost.

They also still don't realize that you cannot win elections by merely hating the other guy.

These liberal elitists are far removed from the rest of the country as well as the traditional blue collar Democrat constituancies. They simply don't realize that the rest of us do not think, live or believe any of the things they see as core values. The only thing uniting these idiots is their seething hatred for George Bush and their desire to control the lives of us "little people" who they see as needing the government to wipe every tear and half their fannies.

That feeling isn't cynicism, it's point on realistic ....

and to quote their party leader:
"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for"

It's useful to be reminded that the left-wing whack jobs have not capitulated. They may have lost some elections but they are still out there stewing in their hatred of or country ,its leadership and our armed forces. If anything they are approaching hysteria in a 'feeding frenzy" total frustration.
They are entirely rudderless, nihlist and with not even a shred of a counter proposal or anything remotely resembling an agenda.
When you figure they represent close to half the American voting citizens, you might consider wiping that triumphant smile off your face.
This is deadly serious.

Shhhhhhh.... they may be listening, and I don't want them to figure that part out.

They won't though, they're too arrogant to accept the truth that the 30% of the people in the middle of the political spectrum (the "swing voters" who actually decide who wins the elections) don't want to be associated with their sophomoric nonsense. Their insane rantings only appeal to slacker underclassmen and other chronic malcontents.
