Hollywood's box office has hit the skids at record pace, and the entertainment media is in overdrive trying to explain why.
The most obvious explanation for the box office malaise is constantly overlooked: Hollywood's liberal ruling elites keep going out of their way to offend half of their audience.
Constant jibes about Republicans, Christians, conservatives, and military litter today's movies like pieces of trash on the theatre floors.
Did the industry have to go out of its way to snub 'The Passion of the Christ' at the awards shows-- even though the film saved last years box office?
Did we need George Lucas implying that his latest 'Star Wars' film was an anti-Bush parable about the Iraq war, in which America plays the evil empire?
I wonder what the response (box office, not political) would be to a movie on terror in which WE were the good guys right down the line and the savages were portrayed accurately as the killers of innocent men women and children that they are?
Hes' 100% wrong. The Martians are Islamo-Facists who invaded Earth out of envy for our water. Islamo-Facists started the War on Terror out of envy for our prosperity and freedom.
Interesting post. One of the great Holywood producers of decades past, once said, " If you want to send a message, use Western Union". It seems that the cretins running the film industry have forgotten that sage advice.
"Hollywood liberals are so consumed with hatred for George W. Bush and the right, they would rather take the whole industry down on the sinking liberal ship than allow a conservative message."
PLEASE LORD JESUS, LET IS SINK to the bottomless pity...the sooner the better!!
Don't go and see Ridley Scotts 'Kingdom of Heaven' then about the Crusades, where Saladin is the hero.
If I want entertainment, I remind myself that there are too many books I want to read for me to waste one cent on anything produced by Hollywood.
It has been a very long time since I spent any money on a film. I don't event want to be anyone's guest at a film which offends me.
They do not need OUR money.
I was thinking the same thing as I read an article about a documentary, Jihad in America, that Jan L. was talking about.
What would be the reaction to a very accurate depiction of the war on terror and how we are winning.
The difference is now the liberal socialists like Speilburg are now running studios.
Hills knows what the people want!
My wife and I long ago stopped going to the movies. Then we stopped renting videos. I would walk up and down the Blockbuster "new releases" aisles and there was nothing but trash. Finally, whenever films starring Hollywood liberals appeared on TV, we changed channels. Maybe we're on the extreme, but Hollywood gets neither our time nor our money.
No kidding. Two movie commercials I saw last night were 'Willy Wonka' and 'The Bad News Bear'. Not 'Willy Wonka's Space Adventure' or 'The Bad News Bear Part 7', just re-hashes of the old classics. They aren't even trying anymore. On top of just "remixing" the oldies, I noticed that 'Willy Wonka' got a PG rating. What kind of idiot studio exec would take a timeless children's classic and exclude children from seeing it?
Thats interesting because Businessweek said last week that AMC Theaters were giving back refunds to theater goers who were unhappy with Cinderella Man. This had never happened before.
I saw that in the print edition.
I have not seen the movie.
Rosemary's baby, all grown up! Ew, that pic gives me the creeps!

T. F. B.
Heard the author speak at CPAC this year. She is one of the good ones - and a real looker to boot!
As I was the only one laughing at that, I guess not too many in the audience had seen the original WOTW.
Actually, that alone made it worth the price of admission for me. I did enjoy the movie, especially the eerie sound effects when the aliens were getting ready to blast away.
