Much ado about nothing, but they will try of course.
From Powerline blog.......
"SCOTT adds: Hilail Gildin writes: "Andrea Mitchell was asked, on MSNBC, whether it was generally known to news people, before the hullabaloo, that Ms. Planme worked for the CIA. She answered, somewhat reluctantly, that it was. In the light of this, I don't understand the ensuing fuss."
The issue, though, is whether it was common knowledge she was covert. And also whether Rove told anyone she was covert.
Apparently, he did not.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh.
Maybe it's a lib and she is trying to soften the blow to the dem party.
During today's FR blackout, I went over to DU to see what's new. They think this Rove/Plame thing is going to be the downfall of the Bush Regime. LOL! Rove will go to jail and since what Rove knows, Cheney knows, Cheney will go too, and then it'll be safe to impeach Bush.
I have never seen so many sick people in one place since Woodstock.
The SP told Rove that he was not being investigated.
It seems that the SP does not like being lied to. Thus the pressure on the reporters.
The Dems and Libs are desperate. Rather then try to use their energy on something useful, like trying to figure out what it is they stand for. The still desperatly try to find a way to undo the election. Pathetic.
I'm pretty sure if you are a known CIA agent you couldn't possibly be covert.
Good point.
Also, if it weren't a lib, why would anyone in MSM be willing to go to the greybar hotel?
(Or, did I miss something here?)
.
but but but but she was a super duper secret super spy!
The list of people inside the beltway who didn't know that Plame was a spook is infinitesimally shorter than the list of people who knew she was.
"The issue, though, is whether it was common knowledge she was covert "
If everyone knew she worked there, I think that rules out being covert.
So when we see these movies where the undercover CIA agent has this cover job as an insurance agent or whatever, that's not how it really works! The CIA's cover story is "You work for the CIA."
She was covert, and then went into CIA management in an noncovert position. But just because she made that shift doesn't mean that you can disclose that she was previously covert. The law protects the identity of previously covert operatives, as well. The purpose is to protect the CIA, and to protect her prior contacts, who were probably still covert.
But the key is that Rove did not disclose that she was covert. He talked to Cooper about her, but did not tell Cooper she was covert. In fact, he did not even know she was covert.
She wasn't covert, or at least she hadn't been for 4 or 5 years.Even when she was covert, she told Joe Wilson that she was a CIA agent on the first night that she met him. Who knows who else she was telling. The woman sounds like a security threat, herself.
Not true. They did not know she worked there when she was covert.
You guys are missing the point here. The point is that Rove did not tell Cooper she was covert. He did not even know that she was covert.
Andrea dresses nicely, but that face is coyote. And I am sure Alan gives her plenty of "inside tips".
If Rove was saying who sent Wilson to Niger and it was his wife is that not true?...how else are the facts to get out?
