Al Qaeda's brutal killing of Egypt's top envoy in Baghdad overshadowed as it was by Thursday's savage London bombings may yet serve a grimly useful purpose if it finally awakens the rest of the Muslim world to the fact that it can't stay on the sidelines in the War on Terror. Ihab al-Sherif's murder was announced Thursday, five days after he was kidnapped and pistol-whipped by terrorist mastermind Abu Musad al-Zarqawi's thugs. Al Qaeda, which most likely beheaded him, boasted he had suffered "the judgment of God" because his government is allied with "Jews and Christians."
Just two weeks ago, al-Sherif learned his status was to be upgraded, making Egypt the first Arab government to send a full-fledged ambassador to Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein.
The same day he was seized on the street, envoys from Bahrain and Pakistan also were targeted for kidnapping, but managed to evade capture.
In other words, it's not only the United States and its Western allies who are the targets of Islamist fundamentalist terror.
As New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman warned yesterday: "It is essential that the Muslim world wake up to the fact that it has a jihadist death cult in its midst. . . . Only the Muslim world can root out that death cult."
Indeed, he notes, to this day nearly four years after 9/11 not one major Muslim cleric or religious body has issued a fatwa against Osama bin Laden.

I really wish we would just get in there and do some real shock and awe. I am starting to hear this same sentiment from others around me too.
Bush and Blair still do not get the message that they are staked out for annilation. How much more will it take?

What exactly do you expect Bush to do about it that he's not doing now?
