Just turned on the radio. Apparently they're playing in the rain. Announcer just commented that "it's turned into a toad floater." Apparently he knows the same Southernisms that I do.
Braves trailing 4-2.

It takes a while for the winds to catch up to the rapid pressure drop.
But this sucker appears to be bombing.
Reminds me of Opal in 1995 -- Pressure dropped like an SOB -- Hit Cat 5, and then weakened to a Strong Cat 3 at landfall.

Just made a fresh pot of fresh ground Costa Rican (brought back the beans from CR myself) coffee. Warming up the oven to make chocolate chip cookies now.
I wasn't smart like Minute Gal--took a nap this afternoon instead of baking the goodies.

I know, it just started. But I turned on Turner South at the end of the 2nd inning and the place was dry as a bone. HOW?

Definately headed to CAT 4 tonight. Any guesses on how low his pressure will go?

After FOX completely botched their London reports the other night (re: train station evacuations, misidentifying locations of their "live" reporters, etc.), I am even more skeptical of their incessant "alerts".
Nonetheless, if NO is seriously affected, at least *somebody* was calling attention to it.

Opal peaked at 130KT...strong cat 4, but not a 5.

Difference with Opal though is she was moving NE and hit the Fla Shelf Water, Dennis is moving NW and will probably not experience the same weakening.
What we need to pray for is an eyewall replacement cycle right before land fall, that could be the saving grace.

Dennis just cut a hard north which could send him straight back to FL. Yep, I noticed that. Seems like pensacola is about to get it again! It's been very quiet here today though. Calm before the storm ?

Skys the limit at this point on strength. It has dropped 16 MBs in 3 hours (i.e., over 5 MB/hr).
There's nothing to stop it from strengthening until landfall other than an eyewall replacement cycle, and that's not going to happen until it's as strong as it can get, by which time it will be over land.

This FSI viewer is AMAZING!
use the tools to zoom in or out, pan let to right and get just the view you want . . .
Then press the DOWNLOAD button and place the selection box around the section you want, choose the resolution and BOOM they download you a closeup of the eye or whatever you've selected with the selection box.
I'm useing it to download a hi-rez of the eys right now. http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/fsi.php?Dennis.A2005190.1845.250m.jpg

Yeah, it's quiet out there...too quiet.
But I sure hate to waste a Saturday night home alone...know anyone sponsoring hurricane parties tonight?
