TWO? REALLY? [K. J. Lopez] All I'll say is I've talked to more people this morning who are prepping for the possibility than I thought would ever be taking it seriously. Posted at 09:00 AM
FOR PETE'S SAKE [K. J. Lopez] In the last half hour the new rumor that is keeping political geeks awake: Rehnquist and Stevens resign tomorrow. (Up until a little ago, the buzz was Renquist, as I noted in Bench Memos.) Posted at 10KùOÅ5 PM (yesterday)
It'd be awesome if this were true, and Ginsberg had to step down before the President Bush's term is over.
She is 75 years old, I think.
Stevens?.....wooohoooo....here's hoping.(but seriously doubting)
A threefor would be oh so SWEET!
"Maybe Ginsberg? She's got some health issues."
CORRECTION:
"Maybe Ginsberg? She's got some MENTAL health issues."
Now, even Bush said he wanted Justices like Scalia and Thomas. Also, Rehnquist has been decent overall.
If this is true, political junkies (like myself) are going to have one hell of a summer.
"Maybe Ginsberg? She's got some MENTAL health issues."

Yes, the good fairy of the ACLU, protector of Communism in the United States, this radical leftist needs to be shipped to Communist China, so she can practice with all the socialism she wants.
Here's to hoping this rumor becomes reality. Not holding my breath though as I think the libs on the SCOTUS will hang on, like pit bulls, till the bitter end and will only leave the court feet first.
if stevens goes - and the rats fillibuster until 2008, then what would the balance be if we had to run a USC with the remaining bunch?
That is what worries me. I hope that President Bush honors his campaign promise to nominate strict constitutionalists to the court.
This would be an opportunity to break the back of left's little ongoing revolution. They aren't going to like it!
I heard Tony Snow say that there is no way Stevens would retire while there is a Republican president. He is going to wait until there is a Democrat president to replace him with one his own kind (a lib). That is, IF he lives that long!!
Just a few days ago I was saying that Stevens won't retire under a Republican president unless he has already been dead for a week. I guess I must have missed the news of him passing away while I was on vacation.

Stevens would be huge. Probably all out filibuster...
Fox subtitle "Bush may be able to appoint 2 or 3 justices at once." Showing pictures of Rehnquist. Still all speculation though.
Only way Stevens is going out is on a stretcher. The liberal aids writing his opinions will probably stick a feeding tube in him and prop him up in a chair just to keep that spot.
