Clintons in Aspen this weekend
Former President Bill Clinton will accompany his wife, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, to Aspen this weekend as she speaks Sunday at the Aspen Ideas Festival.
But Camilla Auger, chairwoman of the Pitkin County Democratic Party, said she does not know if the president will be speaking at an event for the Aspen Ideas Festival. She confirmed he will be coming to the Roaring Fork Valley for the Aspen Institute conference.
Sen. Clinton is scheduled to speak at 9 a.m. Sunday in Harris Hall on global dynamics, "The Big Picture."
"Both [Clintons] will be at Michael Goldberg's home for a fund-raiser on Sunday," Auger said. Goldberg, owner of the Belly Up nightclub who has a home on Red Mountain, is a supporter of the Democratic Party and held a fund-raiser for Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry during his bid for the presidency in 2004.
The event may be a fund-raiser for Hillary Clinton's next senatorial campaign, although Goldberg could not be reached for comment.
"We all wish that there would be more public events, but the Aspen Institute has provided such an incredible service to the community with this ideas conference and gotten so many important, interesting people here that have been very inexpensive for the public," Auger said.
Last Saturday evening, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama spoke at the Benedict Music Tent. The 43-year-old Democrat is considered a rising star in the party.
State Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon, D-Denver, and state Rep. Kathleen Curry, D-Gunnison, will both appear this evening at the Sardy House at 5 p.m. to talk about TABOR reform, a free event put on by the local Democratic Party, Auger said.
"It'll be an extremely interesting gathering, where local experts in the mental health field and people from the senior center can discuss the quality of life in this valley directly," she said. "It's a terrific occasion for people to ask questions and inform themselves on all sides of this issue."
"We all wish that there would be more public events, but the Aspen Institute has provided such an incredible service to the community with this ideas conference and gotten so many important, interesting people here that have been very inexpensive for the public," Auger said.
What a great opportunity for the "public" masses in Aspen.
"The event may be a fund-raiser for Hillary Clinton's next senatorial campaign, although Goldberg could not be reached for comment."
And it may or not get reported as one....

Well that rips it, I guess I won't take that Frontier Airline weekend special to Aspen.
Hope the altitude doesn't pull on the recent face job the beast had.

Please don't give him any ideas. :)
I'm watching a BBC feed and the London police chief just gave praise to Rudy Guliani (sp). Rudy was live on the Washington feed last evening. Clinton is jealous.

Dumb: I'm talkin' about a place where the beer flows like wine, where the women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' about Aspen.
Dumber: I don't know Lloyd, the French are assholes.
