Oh for cryin' out loud. How flipping retarded can a person be?
The M-60 is a belt-fed machine gun. It is not an "assault rifle".
"
Beat me to it. Anyway, the thing is perfectly safe inasmuch as it does not have a bayonet lug...
I wonder how many of these are out in the wild on the black market..
I bet a *ton*
I have a mental picture of Chief Deputy Hondo. No, I just have an opinion of his mentality.
When I first read that I was thinking that we were soon going to see footage of a tank rolling down the road with 50 police cars behind it as it smashed everything.
Where was it stolen? If taken at the auto gun shoot it would be in the Grove or Miami areas or even the Tulsa area.
I'm not sure how the Joplin P.D. got involved in the case.
Humped one all over the world.
"Assault rifle????"
What an idiot.
BTW, when I went through Army Ski School, I never learned what to do with the poles. Both arms were hugging the 60.
You should see me ski now, both pole held on a sling...
Do I have to give it back? I was using it to trim trees in my back yard.
It's a light machine gun that came out during Vietnam. Had a pretty bad tendency to jam if you didn't know each individual M-60's "personality" and tendencies. Once the gunner got to know the gun, it was generally pretty reliable according to my brother (Major, US Army), but you need to be able to go from one machine gun to another if one breaks in the middle of combat without having to learn its idiosyncracies.
HENCE...the Australian-made M240 Bravo that replaced it. Its reliability is legendary. You can have the ammo belt running through dust, dirt, rocks, water, mud puddles, and it will keep right on firing as if the belt was sterilized like a surgical instrument.
I wonder when this was. June 21st this year was Tuesday, this says Sunday June 21st.
With the proper machining it can be a very tough to handle rifle. You just have to shave a lot of weight off of it and hold it rather akwardly.
It's hard to ignore this bizarre sentence.
It's not a matter of "legitimate right": every American has the right to "stock and possess" firearms -- it's a matter that this right has been abridged by the federal government by imposing "Class" licensing on Americans to exercise some of their rights to own certain firearms, much as if a license were required to exercise some of our free speech rights. [Which may be one of the things that comes out of the current FEC discussions on our right to political speech, arguably the most sacrosanct free speech right.]
This is my rifle, this is my gun . . . .
And get kicked onto your a$$ when it starts wandering aimlessly from the recoil - assuming you try this standing up. M-60s are aimed, although indiscriminate lead flying downrange does do a lot of damage - just not reliably ritting the target.
Perhaps Wooten should put an APB out on his brain!
Yes, the author's ascertion that this is an assault rifle is about as retarded as the stupid congress critters that support stupid gun ban laws.
Why isn't there one newspaper / tv reporter in the nation that knows anything at all about firearms?
Idiots all!!!
But it has one of those "icky" flash suppressors like they use in the movies.......EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!

Hey, Darrell, it is a machine gun not an assault rifle. Your agenda is showing.
early weekend gun ping.
Whoever wrote that piece is an idiot. It is a MACHINEGUN!
"It's a weapon which is specifically designed for combat,"
ahem, what gun is NOT meant for combat?
