I was lectured on Freerepublic that I was supposed to "feel safer" because we captured Saddam -- even though there's no evidence that he was behind 9-11. Osama is the guy that Bush promised to get "dead or alive" -- but four years later, he's still out there, free as a jail bird.
Maybe it's time to refocus on the mastermind and culprits who were behind 9-11?
Prediction: I'll get flamed as a "DU provacateur" for advocating that we go after somebody who killed 3000-plus people on American soil.
The country of Iraq might have been poor; Saddam and his cronies there and in France and in Canada and in Russia and yes even in England ( George Galloway ) and those in the UN ( Koffi's son and many others !) were getting stinking rich, breaking those, ahem, *cough*, "sanctions".
You hate President Bush and have been posting, for years, any and ALL negative articles you can dredge up ( from the N.Y. Times to things on Slate.com, for crying out loud! ), which impugn the president and our military. Now, you've taken to posting your offish, garbage vanities to news. Please give me a quote - - plus date and citation - - of any administration or US political leader who predicted, prior to the invasion of Iraq, that we would face a prolonged guerilla war in the country after we got to Bagdhad. The only ones who predicted it were some generals who said Rumsfeld needed to send in many more troops - and they were either told to shut up or they quit.

In case you didn't notice, ZOGBY is NOT 'most americans'.
Please cite me a poll that says the majority of Americans now support the invasion. All of the polls that I have seen, by all sources not just Zogby, say the opposite. It's the same if you talk to people at work or at the store. If you know of a current or recent (last 3 or 4 months) poll that says most people support the invasion of Iraq, please cite it.
We will never officially "get" Usama.
Why?
1) If he is killed, he becomes a martyr used to rally generations of terrorists.
2) If he is captured, he becomes a target for release by taking hostages everywhere.
It makes much more sense to render Usama impotent and running like a scared cat. Let the mighty Islamic Revolution see its leader neutered and cowering.
Every argument you make against "getting" Osama could be made against "getting" Saddam - but it didn't stop us. (Only difference is that Osama was leader of terrorists who were targeting us - and pulled off 9-11 - while Saddam didn't pose a credible threat to the US; on second thought - maybe that's why, according to your logic, there was no danger in capturing Saddam ).

I do too. It shows how juvenile my opponents are. They know they don't have the facts -- they know deep down I was right that the invasion of IRaq was a mistake, as most Americans believe -- so they bluster with school-yards name-calling. Typical. And funny.

That's the point of the thread, Nimrod - - the US government should make getting Osama a priority.
All you appeasers who don't want to capture and kill the Al Quada leadership -- Osama, who killed more than 3000 on American soil, on 9-11 -- are a real mystery to me. Neville Chamberlain would have agreed with your position: "don't kill those who kill your people - let them roam free."
But remember, it took years to find Eric Rudolph, and the Unibomber, and Carlos the Jackal, and any number of criminals. And they were not being protected by a worldwide mafia.
And think of this. On the tiny island of Aruba, no sign of Natalee Holloway. Nada. Zilch.
