I was lectured on Freerepublic that I was supposed to "feel safer" because we captured Saddam -- even though there's no evidence that he was behind 9-11. Osama is the guy that Bush promised to get "dead or alive" -- but four years later, he's still out there, free as a jail bird.
Maybe it's time to refocus on the mastermind and culprits who were behind 9-11?
Prediction: I'll get flamed as a "DU provacateur" for advocating that we go after somebody who killed 3000-plus people on American soil.
You go find him and show us how easy it is.
Go ahead and get him.
Please explain how capturing Osama is going to stop this?
"free as a jail bird"?
What the heck is that supposed to mean?
Maybe you are just an idiot.
having worked with the men and women of the US Military, if they could have found him, they would have...
Osama is a slippery bastard, but we shouldnt put off other issues that needed to be dealt with (i.e. Saddam) in the meantime.
So when do you ship out? I mean you are volunteering for this aren't you?
What exactly are you asking to be done--specifically, not "find him" because that's what everyone wants.
Are you implying that we haven't been hunting Osama?
Remember, we can make a lot of mistakes in the hunt for this bastard, but he only has to make one mistake and he's ours. Don't you worry, we'll get him.
I feel safer because Saddam is out of power and in jail. I feel safer because Osama-who? is...out of the picture, sort of speak.

CIA Director Porter Goss says the agency has a good idea where al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is hiding. In an interview with Time magazine published Monday, Goss, 66, said much of the delay in apprehending bin Laden was rooted in diplomacy. "When you go to the very difficult question of dealing with sanctuaries in sovereign states, you're dealing with a problem of our sense of international obligation, fair play," Goss said. "We have to find a way to work in a conventional world in unconventional ways that are acceptable to the international community."
No, you won't be flamed as DUmmy.
We'll just all think you are really lame and think to ourselves , "Durrr... Gee, I bet Rummy never thought of that."
So, um... where is he that we may pick him up, genius?
Good for you. I don't -- and neither do the residents of London. Aren't open borders wonderful?
"Please explain how capturing Osama is going to stop this?"
Exactly!
If we get him dead or alive all we will do is have 100 other crazies trying to outdo him.
As much as I hate the SOB we are better off if OBL is in hiding; at least for now anyway.
yeah sure I KNOW where Osama is too...
he is in the Middle East....
doesnt mean that he is either A) there now. As Zarqawi has proven, there is some security in never sleeping in a bed or staying at any one safe house or B) in a country were we can reach him.
Sure. Go barging into the Northwest Frontier - a region no foreign power has ever controlled. Make it to where our presence in Afghanistan will no longer be tolerated and spark a widespread tribal war that will make the Sunni Triangle look like a school zone. Makes loads of sense.
Osama is an important figure, but he's also one man in a decentralized organization. The problem with the Bush Admin's approach is not with failing to go after Osama - but failing to call this war what it really is - a war against radical Islamism, not against terror per se. I could care less what Tamil Tiger terrorists are plotting on Sri Lanka - but I do care if we have Islamist cells in this country.

Welcome to Free Republic. :)
That may explain why President Bush never claimed Hussein was behind 9/11.
People like you both amuse and disgust me. You expend energy to mock and impede the war on terror, you're nowhere to be found as daily we post victory after victory in the GWOT, but the second something like this happens you proclaim defeat, using the Brits' suffering for your own weak position. You should be ashamed.
CIA Director Porter Goss says the agency has a good idea where al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is hiding.
Is not the same as,
Goss says CIA knows where bin Laden is
