BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

As it did the sobs and tears that I thought had been left back in the months following 9/11 came flooding back.

Nicely put. I couldn't fully stop crying all morning. I would just start sobbing and then compose myself for a few minutes. Then reality would sink back in and I would start again.

Sky News is reporting that the bus was probably blown up by a homicide bomber, but it has not yet been confirmed by Scotland Yard. They are more interested in trying to trace the particles of the explosives used, as if they were not homicide bombers then they are still at large and that is of major concern. Source: FNC news crawl.

That's really interesting. Thanks for the update.

I know---and I would fire off an e-mail, telling him so, in no uncertain words...I would spell it out..

I am tired of being intimidated by people that use political speak...

I like George Allen, but what this country NEEDS is a POSTUS that will be a kick-a$$ COMMANDER IN CHIEF...

Not someone who is used to compromising and capitulating to the "other side" to get a vote or two.

Nope--"bottle" is Cockney slang for heart or guts; that is, toughness.

As in courage in a bottle?

Not only no patriotism, but no concern for the truth.

IMO, the American people won't buy that this attack was the result of our action in Iraq, nor will the majority of Brits.

There is certainly a frightening percentage who will swallow the RAT/media line, but not the majority.

Here's some useful UK polling data.

Wow, Eagleberg is on Fox News right now, and saying people will not agree with this, but we have to go after the people who mother this terror. Cited Syria and Iran.

Courtesy of littlegreenfootbals.com:

A GP who helped treat casualties following today’s bus explosion outside the London headquarters of the British Medical Association has described the scene.

Dr Laurence Buckman, from the BMA’s GPs committee, said the front of BMA House in Tavistock Square was splattered with blood and body parts were strewn across the road.

The building was turned into a mini hospital while casualties were moved away from the road and were waiting to be taken to hospital.

Dr Buckman told SocietyGuardian.co.uk that he was on his way to a meeting at the BMA and arrived 10 minutes after the bus exploded outside the building.

He said: “I arrived at the BMA just as the first ambulance arrived. My first impression was about the amount of blood. The whole of the front of the building was covered with blood - quite high up, I suspect that was because the upstairs of the bus had been blown off.”

There was also a lot of smashed glass and metal everywhere, he said.

Dr Buckman said ambulance staff told him there were around 10 people dead in the blast. Two people died in the BMA courtyard as doctors tried to treat them.

NOPE--I am not kidding---

In fact they are also saying that the higher up al-queda guy that was captured a few months ago...can't remember his name, but the reason for these bombs today is also because when this al-queda guy was caught...

WE/BUSH "used" him by "showing off" and putting his picture out on the media, which made al-queda "mad at us", so therefore, Bush shouldn't have "bragged" about the capture!!!

and NO, I AM NOT KIDDING!

Well I tend to be a level headed passive bloke, but until we deal with this problem head in, it'll keep on happening.

Time to kill this scum.

Those are dismal numbers indeed.

But do you believe that the majority of people in the UK will associate this attack with the British involvement in Iraq?

Do they lack the basic understanding........given your history of being the victims of terrorist attacks...... that terrorism is NOT the result of reasoned people with clear motives.

Terrorists kill because they want to kill. I would think the Brits would understand that, in spite of how hard the media tries to spin it.

Well, remember, we're used to terrorists who do have reasoned motives and a coherent political agenda. We eventually persuaded the IRA to stop blowing us up with a combination of very precisely targetted police/spook work and a political compromise. It's far from clear how you'd do that with the presumable perpetrators of these bombs though.

All these polls, US and UK, show severe displeasure with the administration's handling of issues but I'm so amazed at the fact that Bush and Blair got reelected.
